At first they would seem to be more interested in going head to head with STAGECOACH, since their first routes will challenge the Oxford Tube and some Megabus operations!

Not unless Southampton & Portsmouth have moved to Oxfordshire No, as I said, and will repeat in case you did not understand, Greyhound came into ownership in 2007 (TWO years ago). Whilst I DID mention The Oxford Tube, I also mentioned MEGABUS, both owned by......STAGECOACH. The Oxford service is being strongly considered, and has already been mentioned by Greyhound UK. Megabus have a daily London-Winchester-Southampton-Portsmouth service. Is THAT clear enough for you.

Not sure why though - seemed like a good-natured discussion until you decided to pile on the bad attitude. Still, I guess some people enjoy talking down to others and making them feel stupid; it makes them feel important. I'm sure everyone who read your post was very impressed by your condescending tone, and as a new member here, I think it's lovely that there are people like you around working to discourage lively and engaging discussions with your sour, angry attitude, and to crush the spirit of community by practically spitting your words at those who dare to question - or in some way discuss - what you say. Give yourself a pat on the back, big man. I must say it's very refreshing to see a new player on the market in the form of the Greyhound UK brand - Megabus has largely failed to energise the market in any meaningful way, while NX has become much more functional and feature-free. I'd say there's certainly room in the market for some competition, especially if it's offering a level of service that's distinctive from the status quo. By the way, while you're of course correct that the brand was acquired in 2007 - although I remain unsure as to why you felt it necessary to slam this point in the other user's face, as though it was a matter of the utmost gravity, when it's little more than a throwaway point in the context of the current story - I've not been able to find any reference to support your assertion that the Oxford route is under consideration, nor that this has been publicly mentioned by Greyhound UK or First. That's not to say that you're wrong - given the b!tchslapping you gave the other guy, I wouldn't dream of suggesting such a thing - but I find that it helps to offer some evidence to support your claims, especially when you've gone out on a limb by pointing out the ways in which someone else is wrong, and the ways in which you're right. There was an article in The Times which suggested that Oxford Tube is a competitor to Greyhound, even though it alluded only to south coast services and specifically referred to the coaches "trundling down the M3". However, the article also claimed that Greenline and Scottish Citylink were competitors to the new service, which leads me to believe that the Oxford reference was most likely little more than a bored copywriter finding a bunch of UK scheduled coach operators and chucking those names into the article without verifying whether they represented any direct or immediate competition. Given how "strongly" you say Greyhound UK are considering the Oxford service, and that they've already made public statements to that effect, it's unusual that the aforementioned article is the only direct and credible public reference I've found to Oxford in relation to Greyhound UK. Perhaps you can provide some reference to one of these public announcements?

This is becoming SO boring, I think I already know who you are, and my thoughts will be passed on to the appropriate people. Anyway, IF you ARE a new member and you do not like what you see here, why join in the first place? You accuse ME of an 'agressive' style, yet YOUR whole approach is carefully thought out so as to attempt to humiliate and discredit me. Good first attempt. A* quality! Nice to have a post attacking me where the spelling is good, better than the usual cretinous efforts we normally see here! ;D

Perhaps you can provide some reference to one of these public announcements? Well, for a 'new' member, you DO have a lot to say! I'm sorry - are long posts the exclusive domain of those who have been members for the longest? Is there a word limit to which I must adhere as a newbie? But we both know that is NOT really the case, how long will it take us to uncover your REAL identity? Uh huh. I get it, you think I'm an existing member with a duplicate account - I'm a member of other forums, I understand where you're coming from. I've been visiting this forum for about two years now, and I finally decided to become a member on 14 June 2009, when I applied to join under the username '111'. Eventually, on 26 July 2009, my application was denied - strangely enough, the reason given was "duplicate account", even though I'd not previously been a member here. Finally, my application under my current username was approved on 9 August 2009. I'm sure that the forum team can verify this if you pester them enough, and if you really want to make a big deal out of this, I'll be happy to forward to you copies of the emails that I received from the admins. My 'real' identity is none of your business, in much the same way that I don't see a great stream of people all leaving their full names, photos etc on their profiles here, so I shall enjoy the same veil of anonymity that all other users here are afforded, and I shaln't capitulate to any further requests to prove that I'm not who you think I am beyond my offer to share with you the history of my joining this forum. This is becoming SO boring, I think I already know who you are, and my thoughts will be passed on to the appropriate people. Well, I'm not sure who these "people" are - should I be looking over my shoulder in the street? - but if you're referring to the Forum administrators, I will be very happy to co-operate fully with any of their enquiries directly, to demonstrate that I am here in full compliance with the terms and conditions of this forum, and indeed to prove - if necessary - that I am not who you think I am, whoever the hell that is. Anyway, IF you ARE a new member and you do not like what you see here, why join in the first place? It may surprise you to learn that my decision to join did not hinge around your posting style. Over the past couple of years, I've found a great deal to like on this site, from the friendly discussions to the range of information that isn't easily sourced elsewhere, to the fact that people can ask questions of those in the know. There is plenty that I like on this site; the fact that I found your arrogant and confrontational post towards the other member to be really quite unnecessary and needlessly rude does not mean that I don't like the site as a whole. It would be extremely narrow-minded to allow the actions of one person to tarnish my impressions of everything and everyone else here. I was a member before you made that particularly female dogy post on which I felt inclined to comment. I did not join with the sole intention of commenting upon your arrogance, and I do not intend to let it define the scope of my membership here - I'm here to talk buses, dammit! - and I certainly wouldn't let one user's arrogance and rudeness bully me off the site. You accuse ME of an 'agressive' style, yet YOUR whole approach is carefully thought out so as to attempt to humiliate and discredit me. Good first attempt. A* quality! I'm grateful for your praise. I've always found that the best way to deal with a bully is to confront him directly, and that clearly requires a level of aggression that matches that which the bully himself introduced. One does not thank the mugger for taking his wallet; one does not hug the bully for attacking another person. Nice to have a post attacking me where the spelling is good, better than the usual cretinous efforts we normally see here! ;D Thank you, and I look forward to contributing further to the Forum over the coming weeks and months. I really do like it here, which is why I've been visiting for so long - but I also think that the kind of post where you needlessly laid into the other user serves no purpose other than to put off other potential members from joining. It stops the community from growing, because some may feel that they do not wish to be part of a community where they will get their heads bitten off for simply contributing to a discussion. I'm sorry that you feel that the best way to deal with this situation is not to review your own actions - I'm not sure how you choose to justify in your own mind being so rude and condescending to someone who was merely partaking in an open discussion - but to instead try to find a bureaucratic solution to removing someone who has dared to question your word, but as a member of various other online communities and forums, I've seen many persons with the same sort of posting style, and they have served no other purpose than to ruin the experience for everyone else. I very much hope that you can find some way to reflect on that, and to consider the ways in which attacking someone for daring to speak does nothing but make everything a bit less pleasant for everyone. It's a great shame that you chose solely to focus upon my comments about your arrogance, and that you weren't able to make any kind of contribution towards the actual discussion of the new Greyhound UK busline in your last post; I'm quite sure that you will wish to have your say again in the public forum on the matter of your being a bully to ensure that you save face, but perhaps we should take this discussion into private messages to avoid souring the milk further for other users? In the mean time, I shall await contact from the powers that be - given that you rather amusingly decided to "tell on me" - and I'll be happy to co-operate with their enquiries fully.

Well, TWO posts by you, both aimed at me.
You talk about visiting here for a couple of years before joining.
Fine, I await with interest and baited breathe you input about BUSES on this forum.
If you have been the innocent but vigilant observer that you claim, it cannot has escaped your notice that this forum HAS been plagued by a group of troublemakers who make my alleged transgressions look like a vicar's tea party in comparison.
It is a pity that you did not concentrate your efforts with any observations to help the admin here stop their nonsense, because, unlike me, THEY are intent on destroying this forum.
You MUST have noticed that!

I must say welcome to the new member 'thelondonthing' and I admire the way in which the posts have been done in a way that reflects both fact and good writing skill. As John says, it's just what we need, especially with regard to buses. What we do not need however is the constant putting down of members. I would have deleted them, but the quality of posts in response to them is just so good that I think I will keep them It is a very good idea to keep any personal differences of opinion to PMs and not plague the forums with this. And may I request anyone not to accuse new members to be reincarnates of the trouble makers we have had on here unless they have full proof. And if they do, please PM a mod / admin Thank you

Apparently they are fitted with something called Drive Green • Green - the journey is smooth enough to read a newspaper • Amber - the passenger has to look up from their newspaper • Red - the passenger has to hold a handrail to steady themselves Hmm yes we have just started using this at Dagenham (interestingly it goes live on my day off ;D) and it's gone company wide it seems. Works on 3 lights as has already been mentioned: Green - You are driving with low risk maneuvers Amber - You are driving at a medium risk Flashing Amber - You are performing medium risk maneuvers Red - You are a high risk Flashing Red - You are performing high risk maneuvers

I would quite like to see how much extra legroom the removal of 8 seats can create on one of these Scania coaches.
It is quite impressive how so many fares are being sold at £1 (+ booking fee) - even in the days of National Express and Megabus initiating their price wars, there were not that many £1 bargains
