The routes were originally tendered to companies with different names to those shown on the buses (Tellings Golden Millar and London United)
The middle door clue is probably about the ramps. I think the DP class had them modified and recessed slightly after a TV report where a wheelchair user couldn't get on about 6 buses in a row as the ramps were all broken at the time. (6 or 7 years ago now ?) TfL then issued an instruction not to allow buses into service with failed ramps.
