Hasn't this been done before? Yes! The 607 used to have branding when it was run with Leyland (Lynxes and Nationals??). Thanks for that

I have heard from a source at TfL that route branding will be making a comeback to encourage passengers to use buses more: Route branding is to be trialled in the Barking and Hayes areas for around 6 months. Buses will have their places of interest, and route frequency on the side of the bus, some below the lower deck windows and some where the bus adverts currently are, and on the backs of buses. Around 70% of a route's allocated vehicles will be branded, allowing for some fleet flexibility. Stewart Signs will be applying the branding. I've seen a photo of Arriva VLA 18 with route branding applied for the route 19, with places of interest in large white letters: Finsbury Park, Highbury, Soho, Knightsbridge, Chelsea, Battersea..."every 6 mins" I don't have a photo of the bus, but someone else here may be able to get one! Interesting times and routebound (or not) buses! Route branding on a PROPER bus Another route purely for nostalgic reasons. (Ian Armstrong's Bus Route page) Attachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

RV1 used to have Riverside branding on its Citaro From 2002 when the route and the buses were new until around 2010 when these citaro were withdrawn.

Interesting times and routebound (or not) buses! Should have been done years ago. There was too much standardisation over the years why most of this stuff went off the scene and the old excuse of operators using wrong bus on wrong route. Could easily be applied to one route buses i.e. 184, 149 etc. Doesn't have to be all of the allocated fleet, so there is flexibility for a few others o be used on other garage loans etc. I'd even extend it to routes where buses stray because I've never brought the argument of branded buses being on the wrong route as bad - the audience gets broader and could actually pull in people who otherwise might never have known about the service in the first place. Jokingly, I'd laugh if they branded the 109's MMC's up with a "life in the slow lane" moniker haha.

Don't think some companies will be too happy about branding. I know it's 70% but some operators are very flexible with allocations.
I am sure I read somewhere that was a reason Stagecoach wasn't too interested in biding for the ELT routes before they converted to LT.

If this was the case surely Stagecoach wouldn't be interested in bidding for any LT routes aswell due to less flexibility?

I thought that sounded a bit odd, the Citaro's on the 227 could certainly be route branded, as far as I'm aware they've never operated on another route.

It is understood that no expense will be spared on branding for the X26 deckers. TfL paid an undisclosed sum to Best Impressions... (from WikiLeaks site) - Hot on the heels of Arriva's 'brand refresh', London General bring back a retro '40's Logo for WVL205

Those Kentish Bus branded routemasters looked great.

According to the HD Trim twitter account, the Streetlites due to arrive at MB (64 reg) will receive "an upgrade and special branding", although this tweet was posted ten days ago and I've been very busy since then (which is why I've only seen this now), so sorry in advance if this has been posted elsewhere!
I assume this branding is for the Roundabout route scheme, but I'm not sure if this will actually be applied, given the ambiguity of the caption.
