Only had one extension to Whyteleafe South from Whyteleafe in 2004 (I believe, but maybe ibus246 would know when exactly, I was very young at the time!). Route 407 also has never been changed as far as I know.

The 85 has been running between Putney Bridge and Kingston without alteration since the 1930s (possibly before) www.londonbuses.co.uk/_routes/current/085.htmlRoute 146 has been running between Bromley and Downe since 1950, albeit with some SDO projections to Biggin Hill in the 80s www.londonbuses.co.uk/_routes/current/146.htmlThe 268 has been basically unchanged since inception in 1968 save for an extension round to Sainsburys/the o2 Centre at Finchley Road. Going further back I don't think any of the truly 'historic' routes other than the 24 have been without change. It should be noted, though, that the 24 started as a Hampstead Heath to Victoria route, being extended to Pimlico two years later. (http://londonbusroutes.net/photos/024.htm). 105 years of stability is still very good going.

Route 31 was Camden - Chelsea from October 1934 to May 1999, when it was curtailed at Notting Hill Gate in lieu of the 328.

Yes, I know the route has had various eastern appendages added and taken away over the years, but the Woolwich - Erith part of the 99 has been going for the best part of 100 years.

I believe the 114 & 240 have pretty much stayed the same On the contrary, the 114 has hardly anything in common with its original route! It used to run between South Harrow and Edgware mostly via today's 340. The current route to Mill Hill Broadway was only adopted in 1983 in a swap with the 140. The 240 has been more stable, although there was a time when the section between Mill Hill and Edgware was only covered by a 240A variant. All in all I don't think any of the routes mentioned so far can match the 24 for unchangedness (yes I know that isn't a real word).

Fair enough about the 114, I was only guessing, the 240 & 240A my dad actually used to get on so I knew about that one, it's interesting that the 240A became the 221

101 did pretty well until 2005 when it was withdrawn from North Woolwich. Started in 1934!

281 has only been extended to Hounslow after the 33 was withdrawn from that section. Other than that it has been in the same form, even in it's 601 trolley days. (man, I wish we still had those and trams, I would have been able to take a Tram through my local area!)

There was tenture when it went to Petts Wood however the R5 is back to how it was introduced in 1986. Route R3 used do a very late Saturday evening journey round the loop of what is the R10 now which is quite forgotten about.
