Papers for next weeks TfL Audit committee now available content.tfl.gov.uk/aac-14-sep-public-agenda-web.pdfLooks like it is again in bookmarked pdf format (can click on index on left to jump around) Have only skimmed it, (looks long and tedious info heavy) but section 16 has mayor's directions to TfL which might make interesting reading

There's also a slightly worrying position with LU's manangement of images from security system cameras - 10 recommendations for improvement. I'm surprised that area has got into that sort of state. Also Claire Mann, Head of Buses, enjoyed some nice meals with Dawson Rentals, CT Plus and Go Ahead London.

Board papers 19 September content.tfl.gov.uk/board-20180919-agenda-and-papers.pdfPage 75 shows bus journeys 2% below budget Page 167 shows bus complaints have jumped 26% compared to previous year Page 176 has bus ticket validations, it seems there is a target of 99.0% which I’m surprised at, as 1% of oyster/contactless not working seems a poor target to me.

Complaints - Page 171 states: "Due to the introduction of a new Customer Relationship Management system, fewer complaints were logged in Q1 last year due to settings in the new system that defaulted many contacts to enquiries instead of complaints. Therefore, a direct comparison cannot be drawn between this quarter and the current quarter." Page 189 - Consultation expected for "Route 27 curtailment at Hammersmith and rerouting of service 440"

Per page 74 "bus journey numbers are indicating a reduction in discretionary travel at weekends" content.tfl.gov.uk/board-20180919-agenda-and-papers.pdfSo that gives TfL a good reason to thin out weekend services my view is if money is tight I would rather a bus carrying fresh air is cut, rather than a busy one

So the new radio system project looks OK but older systems are creaking at the edges. These are business critical systems for TfL and the operators so it's a bit concerning that vulnerabilities have been found.

Sunday services are infrequent and affected by delays because bus lanes and parking restrictions often aren't in force. And trying to travel in central London on Saturdays is a waste of time because someone is always marching somewhere about something.

The TfL finance papers for 17 Oct meeting are up content.tfl.gov.uk/fc-20180704-public-agenda-and-papers.pdfPage 69 shows buses journeys 1.9% below budget and 1.9% below last year Page 80 shows that bus income £12m below budget for periods 1-6. at £670m vs budgeted £682m which is obviously £1m short every fortnight as 6 periods is 24 weeks Page 84 shows Crossrail capital expenditure was staggering £669m vs £370m budget, a whopping £299m over

I still get the sense they don't really understand why. There are concerns about modal switch from bus to tube (although that brings in more money) but also to Uber and similar. Looks like more research is being demanded by TfL Board Members. - there is a comment about economic prospects remaining very subdued. That looks like a very subtle warning that overall prospects remain fragile at best. This means the focus will remain very heavily on containing cost pressures.

Customer service and Operational Performance meeting 14 Nov content.tfl.gov.uk/csopp-20181114-agenda-pack.pdfPage 35 Bus complaints increased compared to previous year Page 44 has comments on fall in bus passenger numbers, still being analysed for more explanation, but was lower than expected in summer, possibly due to hot weather (remember tube, Overground etc is gaining a/c but buses don’t get a/c and now it is directly hitting summer travel) Page 60 Bus speeds have stabilised at 9.3 - 9.4 mph Page 84 Bus satisfaction below 86% target Page 137 Agenda item on Assisted travel Page 174 has bus emissions graph, benchmarking against other cities

I'm not all the way through yet but there is a fair amount of commentary from past Board / Cttee meetings about Crossrail. Nothing very new but there are a few startling comments in there. This is from the Commissioner's Report about reporting of bus disruptions and the new system TfL have awarded a contract for. Bus Network performance and finances
