Stuck on a 386 behind 3 buses trying to get out of Vincent Road around 6pm tonight. Cars blocking the mini roundabout. One of the buses was a 180. The lights at the end of Burrage Road are on a short phase which normally lets one bus or three/four cars get through. Not on a short phase. Lets a lot of buses/cars through. Not sure if the phasings have been altered for the duration of the works though. Even when the traffic is queuing down Vincent Road, you still get through on the second lights. I think it will remain on the diversion, but if not it can always use the Monk Street stand. It was proposed to use the Monk Street stand. Fought long and hard against it. The stops in Hare Street and Powis Street are important to shoppers and local workers.

I dont think that will happen as it will mean that Vincent Road will have stoppig 386s in Both directions... I was thinking that the 161 change might have no choice but to go ahead. The new road layout is nearly finished and that change is not really related to Crossrail at all. I’m guessing that the 386 will have to be routed via Vincent Road which may actually result in an additional stops on Vincent Road and Burrage Road. Any GAL folks have any news on that?

I don't know what queue of traffic you are referring to as pretty much every time I go through there on the 180 I get through the lights in 1 go! And that's with all the buses going that way!!! More chaos in Woolwich now. The 53, 122 (and the 380?) can't turn left into Woolwich New Road to stop outside Woolwich Arsenal Station.
They are running down Vincent Road against the normal flow.
The 54 is running via John Wilson Street and Monk Street to stand in Hare Street.
Running the 161 towards North Greenwich via Vincent Road might persuade TfL to stop the stupid diversion via John Wilson Street in the consultation.

I note with interest that the latest TLB is reporting that new route 301, and possibly other changes, will not go ahead in December this year. They will wait until Crossrail itself opens sometime in 2019. And to think what I was called on here for suggesting that TfL would follow its 18 year long policy, and that of LT before it, of deferring major changes linked to rail network changes until the rail network changes. Ooh dear.

I imagine these route changes may possibly happen around sometime in July-September. I imagine TFL will want to introduce them before the Schools go back as well.

Ooh dear. I do wonder about the Erith extension of the 180, which is not a Crossrail change but has been mulched in with the Crossrail stuff. Problem is that, really, it *is* part of the Crossrail stuff as DT11 says. It is tied to the 472 and consequential 129 change. I can't see TfL changing the 472 in Thamesmead until there is a Crossrail service to link to. Therefore its route and frequency will remain as now into NOG. Therefore you don't add the 180 and change the 129 while keeping the 472 as now. TfL will do everything it can to avoid running an extra kilometrage of mileage until it can bring in related cuts on other routes to keep costs in sort of balance. This makes most of the SE changes an "all or nothing" change in my view. Yes contracts may well switch over and one or two routes may get DDs but that's it (IMO, of course). If TfL were more financially flush then they *might* have brought in some new services early but I really, really do not see that happening in current circumstances.

Results / Proposals updated 27 Nov consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/elizabeth-line/We will go ahead with the changes as consulted on for routes 129, 161, 178, 291, 469, 472 and B11. We will also be implementing the changes to route 180 and the introduction of route 301. However, following the consultation responses and further review, the changes to these routes will go ahead with the following alterations: •Route 180 will be run between Erith Quarry and North Greenwich, but will be rerouted between Charlton and North Greenwich via Bugsby’s Way instead of via Peartree Way •Route 301 will be introduced between Bexleyheath and Woolwich. However it will use double deck buses and will run via Woolwich Road and New Road instead of via Knee Hill We will not be converting route 244 to double deck operation at this time.

So...
129: extended from Greenwich to Lewisham (replacing route 180)
161: diverted northbound via Woolwich town centre
178: double-decking
180: diverted to terminate at North Greenwich instead of Lewisham; also extended from Belvedere to Erith Quarry
291: double-decking
301: NEW ROUTE from Bexleyheath to Woolwich via Abbey Wood and Thamesmead
469: diverted between Abbey Wood and Belvedere via Woolwich Road
472: extended from Thamesmead to Abbey Wood
B11: cut back from Thamesmead to South Thamesmead
Won't be happening 244: double-decking

Pretty much with the 161, 178 & 291 changes happening this month (or happened in the case of the 161). The 244 is rumoured to convert further down the line and its interesting that MG's buses have received 244 blinds though I'm not linking the two together as BX double deckers such as the T's & PVL's also had 244 on their blind sets.

For me this update fails to answer the key question of when these changes will actually take place “We will be introducing these changes in line with the phased opening of the Elizabeth line or in response to wider bus network changes.....” Seems TfL have left this open to their own short term decision making. Personally I’m actually excited about the 180 change as it means I will have a direct bus from my area to the O2 and Bugsby’s Way. That’s no consolation to passengers between Plumstead and Greenwich who will have to cram onto a 177. We are actually getting a bus cut between Woolwich and Greenwich which is crazy considering the use levels, but that’s a sign of the times. Looking forward to seeing deckers on the 291 carrying fresh air in the evenings and weekday daytime. I guess it was too much for TfL to simply increase Monday to Saturday peak frequencies to meet demand.

I certainly agree with you about the 291, double deckers are a solution looking for a problem quite honestly.
