I don't know if I'm missing something here but I don't quite see what is so idiotic about it? Surely the 301 and at least some of the Central London cuts are loosely linked to Crossrail? I really don't get the logic in reducing the Sunday service on the 286 at all.

The statement probably should have said it was a London-wide bus review. I’ll at least give Greenwich council credit in this case for promoting the new service and buses in general. I don’t think advertising frequency cuts sits within that message. Sid - that Sunday 286 cut is an odd one. The Blackheath - Greenwich part is very well used on Sundays. I’m guessing the Blackheath to Sidcup section has a ton of spare capacity. Either that or TfL are making a mistake.

Interesting the map on that website has the route avoiding Knee Hill, while the consultation report on TfL's site states the route will use Knee Hill. Does anyone know what the finalised route is?

That's been my experience of the 286 on Sundays, the Greenwich end far busier than the Sidcup end and I just wonder why the 286 has been singled out for a reduction evening's and Sunday's?

Avoiding Knee Hill is correct. It will run via New Road (which selfishly means the 301 will be much more useful for me on a Tuesday evening 😂 )

Travelled on a 301 from Bexleyheath to Plumstead Station yesterday morning. It was lightly used and passengers waiting at stops did not know where it was going so the driver had to explain each time. Double deckers going down New Road was a bit strange and is a tight fit when two meet and parked cars at the junction of New Road and Woolwich Road. The only notices seen were on the shelter at Bexleyheath Market Place which was a line diagram with the main places indicated. It did not show which roads it took between the places. Why does it go via Nathan Way? The 472 can cope with the industrial estate traffic.

The 301 was supposed to go hand in hand with the 472's rerouting in Thamesmead and subsequent extension to Abbey Wood bur obviously that hasn't happened yet.

I think it goes down Nathan road firstly as it's the most direct Woolwich to Thamesmead route and later the 472 will drop in freq. Out of all the Woolwich to Bexleyheath routes would this be quicker then the others? I'd say the 96 was the fastest but over the 99 and 422 could it be?

I presume the notice at Bexleyheath has been put up by an enthusiast? It was pretty dead between Woolwich and Thamesmead when I used it yesterday but got a bit busier towards Bexleyheath picking up passengers who were probably waiting for a 401 or B11. It does seem a bit wasteful having two routes along Nathan Way, I think the 301 only needs to run between Bexleyheath and Thamesmead until the 472 is altered? In the long term maybe it should be extended to North Greenwich in place of the 161 enabling it to serve Woolwich town centre properly and avoid the awkward routing that the 161 has to take?

It's likely to get busier the nearer it gets to Bexleyheath or Woolwich, even if people don't the route the destination confirms where it will end up.

Does the 301 use the same stand as the 51/99/386 in Woolwich?

Does the 301 use the same stand as the 51/99/386 in Woolwich? Yes but it only picks up at the stop opposite the indoor market.

Out of all the Woolwich to Bexleyheath routes would this be quicker then the others? I'd say the 96 was the fastest but over the 99 and 422 could it be? Looking at the scheduled times for a midday trip from Woolwich to Bexleyheath:
96: 37 mins 99: 59 mins 301: 38 mins 422: 36 mins
So as long as you avoid the 99 there's not much difference. I suppose things would be different at peak times depending on which route hits the most congestion.
