Does anyone remember what the plan was the 188 for Crossrail? None. Wasn’t there consultation to remove the 188 somewhere?

Just travelled on a 244 from Woolwich to Herbert Road.
The Crossrail proposals suggested the route would get deckers if demand increased.
The bus arrived full at the Woolwich Market stop and more got on than got off. This was repeated at the Woolwich New Road stop.
Deckers are needed now to get ready for Crossrail opening in the first half of next year.

I can’t understand why they deferred the double decking, must have been plenty of double deckers going spare that they could have used.

You can’t say just because a bus was full, the whole service needs to be decked. If there are loading issues throughout and people are being left behind during the day, even when buses are running on time then a case could be made. I would favour a frequency increase during times of higher demand to make the service even more attractive, but obviously it’s cheaper just to deck a route and keep the same frequency…or even have a cheeky reduction due to increased capacity.

I'm not basing it on one bus. That was just today. It happens most days with all seats occupied and people standing by the front doors. Numbers using the route have increased during peak times. The frequency is already fairly good. More people will use it when Crossrail opens.

At the time TfL stated that they would revisit the decision once Crossrail opened. I guess they didn’t anticipate that wouldn’t be until 2022.

Spare LTs from the 21 & 76 reductions could go to Q for route 176 (or maybe 185) and release EHs for route 244.

Or there's the WVLs left from the 180 Or easier, if there was a will to deck it, use the WVLs from the 132 once the EPs are in service. (Do the WVLs have 244 on the blindset?)

Do you think then if the 624 and 625 are getting buses from route 432 would you keep E131-134 to convert the 244 to Double deckers ready for when crossrail opens and to top it up with E's from Route 37 and replace with the spare MHV's from Route 63.

LOTS seem to be hinting at further proposals for route changes associated with the Elizabeth Line opening, in addition to what's already been proposed. I wonder if that is correct or whether it is just slightly maladroit sentence construction.
