I note also that the Guardian is reporting the removal of school time extra buses from route 20 on the new contract. There is also a story about the 379's buses destroying a road in Yardley Lane estate and "demolishing" the foundations of someone's bungalow and also nearly killing children. Sounds like Mr Nimby doesn't want buses in "his" road. (sigh) How long has the 379 been running on the same route? Are Streetlite WFs really more destructive than a Mini Pointer Dart?

Well last time I've done 379, the bus got stuck, and the driver complained "these buses" (the StreetLites) have a too wide rear that's been causing issues nearly every day. I believe this is also the same reason these are banned from the R8

I believe this is also the same reason these are banned from the R8 Think the wheel forward design gives them a longer wheelbase than a similar length MMC (or any other bus with a more conventional wheel layout). Also wouldn't be surprised if it makes the rear overhang bigger.

However "Mr Moany of Yardley Lane" was referring to other problems which suggest the Streetlites are worse than previous types in terms of weight rather than length. I thought Wrightbus vehicles were designed to be lighter than those from other manufacturers but perhaps I'm wrong about that. I just struggle with people who moan about bus services going past their homes - it's not as if the 379 started a fortnight ago. I also find people who seek to remove bus services and deprive people of mobility objectionable. Selfishness personified.
