I guess I was wrong.... It was certainly helpful to me, as I had to go out despite the snow, and this was much more useful than the public info on TfL's site. Cheers!

Must be said that vast majority of these issues were caused by the various local authorities simply not gritting roads. Yet more evidence of austerity measures.
Over at Heathrow, extra police drafted in because of tensions in terminals. People waiting well over 5 hours from landing to getting through passport control.
Shambolic day. Well done to all who tried their best.

Well done to all who tried their best. Nothing to do with austerity measures. This has been happening for years now, since the 1990's when we were hardly getting heavy snowfall in London. It used to happen in the 80's a lot. In the 90's it was 1991 and 1996 IIRC the heaviest, didn't get that much that lasted a while until 2003. There after it took until 2010 for a serious amount.

Was it 2010 when all buses were taken off the road on a late Sunday night? I remember waiting for a 152 for ages, taking to account of the weather only to eventually be told by an off duty bus driver that all services were suspended.

Just had a tip off from friend (that gets this warning info) that within a week likely to snow problems (weather warnings not yet released), so treat this as Heads Up
Specifically : Saturday some sleety stuff, any snow will be marginal and on higher ground (disruption unlikely)
Tuesday : Troughs will bring bands of snow, some very heavy and intense. Upper air temperatures very cold so snow may sit on salted roads without melting (will require moving traffic for salt to work). Expected to fall faster than can be plowed at times. Note rare reference to plowing (not spreading)
Amounts of snow cannot be determined until nearer the time due to unusual synoptics
Very cold air from Scandinavia/Russia/Artic expected for least a week from Tuesday so presumption snow will just melt away should not be made at current time.
Might be one to keep an eye on
