My reaction to the opening of Crossrail from 2020 to 2021. You're Sir Patrick Stewart in real life? He's probably the only person from Huddersfield who's actually famous

Well, I was saying 2021 quite a bit earlier on the thread. Colour me not surprised 🙄

What will arrive first Crossrail or Brexit!
Joking aside I wonder if the bus related changes (Apart from the 301) will go ahead in 2020/2021 or will TfL go back to the drawing board and run a fresh consultation.
I sincerely hope it's Crossrail, with Brexit 'delayed' for as long as Thameslink 2000, or preferably even longer, but I accept that's probably a minority view on this forum.

He's probably the only person from Huddersfield who's actually famous I'd cite Prime Minister Harold Wilson, who formed Labour governments in 1964, 1966, and on two occasions in 1974, and is/was much under-rated for various reasons. I believe history will be kinder to him. He kept us out of the war in Vietnam, which is reason enough to celebrate him!

Donald Trump's Wall will probably arrive before both Brexit and Crossrail.

Confirmed as between Oct 2020-Mar 2021 with Bond Street not opening at all within that period. Not surprised at all about Bond street!

Totally forgot about him, and I should really know that since there's a building in my University named after him

Well, I was saying 2021 quite a bit earlier on the thread. Colour me not surprised 🙄 Well they have given themselves a pretty big "window" to aim at. It's 6 months later than I expected. I still think there will be an attempt to open the core in late 2020 just because of the run up to Christmas and the high travel demand. I do think that Crossrail have to "cough up" about what the heck is going on (or not!) at Bond Street. I note the reference to "design and construction" issues in the latest blurb which rather suggests something very serious has gone wrong. It will end up being almost three years late if it opens months after the latest date in the "window". That's ludicrous.

Donald Trump's Wall will probably arrive before both Brexit and Crossrail. They are planning to use surplus bricks from Donald Trump's Wall for the new facade at Bond Street Station

I’ve seen quite a Elizabeth Line staff at London Bridge recently doing customer service on either TL platforms or on the Southern gatelines. One I spoke to said she is/will be based in core section.
I’m gathering there doing this as they were expected to be at there home stations from December, as this is not the case MTR are sending them different locations to work / gain experience etc. So they don’t sit at home getting paid to do nothing

You're Sir Patrick Stewart in real life? He's probably the only person from Huddersfield who's actually famous Lena Headey spent a few of her early years living in Huddersfield.

The National Audit Office have released a report on Crossrail. I've not read it but have some excerpts on Twitter. It makes for pretty horrific reading. Some of the estimated costs for the stations against their original budgets are astounding - Whitechapel is almost 6 times the original budget (£659m vs £110m) www.nao.org.uk/report/crossrail/www.nao.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Completing-Crossrail.pdfAnd worth looking at the dates when things were already clearly going wrong and very poor decisions were being made - i.e. before the current Mayor took over. This is a mess that is long in the making. And that is NOT me trying to make the current Mayor blameless but just pointing out that all the "on time, on budget" stuff being spouted by his opponents about the project before he was elected are equally deluded about the reality of the situation. It was going wrong in 2015!
