Still can't quite believe that in Summer 2018 Crossrail said they were going to open in December 2018, yet will struggle to open even three years later than that!

They should just "open" the line in part between Liverpool Street and Shenfield and Paddington and Reading and have the Central and Abbey Wood section closed until they can open it surely this will kill off some of the bad press ?

I wonder if abandoning platform doors altogether would make the opening of the central section more feasible. ''We got it wrong by making the technology needlessly over-complicated'' is not a sentiment you hear expressed too often these days, but you never know. It's not that having platform doors is unachievable in itself of course, but trying to dovetail them with the other complex features could be the straw that breaks...

Isn’t that what is happening? The Paddington to Reading section will begin operating as the ‘Elizabeth Line’ from December (this year).
