Does anyone know why there are hired security guards at stations on the Watford DC line?

I was on the DC Line and noticed there was about 10 million contract security guards along the line. I only noticed them north of Wembley Central.
There was two at each station at both Underground and Overground stations, aimlessly walking the platforms looking rather bored.
I'm surprised as the DC Line north of Wembley Central seems rather civilised and quaint. These security guards are probably more efficient if positioned to the south-end of the DC Line around Harlesden, Willesden and Queens Park where it's a bit more, erm, gangsta, innit.

On the same subject, I see Class 710 stop car markers have been erected along the DC Line stations.

On the same subject, I see 710 stop car markers have been erected along the DC Line stations. Yeah, they've been in situ for a few months now. With a 378/710 combo marker.
