As many of you know, the Epping Ongar Railway also operates bus route 339 which links to the railway.
I've often wondered - are you able to buy normal tickets to use just on the bus rather than the combined railway ticket? It is a public registered bus route after all.
All the information i've found is that the 339 is included in the train ticket, which is a bit pricey when all i'm after is a bus ride. The EOR is excellent but sometimes I'd just like the heritage bus ride.

How did you manage to find out in the end? I should have said - I went to the LT event yesterday at EOR, and asked the conductor. On Normal days the fares are as follows: £7- bus day rover- Make sure the conductor stamps this on the back. I haven't conducted on a standard day yet but this is what I have been told, I will double check next week. All single journeys are between £1-3 depending on the distance travelled. There are no returns, but what conductors will usually do is issue two singles. Freedom Passes/ENCTS are also accepted throughout as it is a registered bus service! Better to have this info out there as at the end of the day it attracts more custom.

Its good to know you can get tickets just for the bus - it doesn't seem to be advertised anywhere. I think they could encourage more visitors if they just wanted to use the vintage bus, and also more local bus users (although they might so - I might not have looked well enough). I must say, it is quite a feat operating a vintage bus service on a public service every weekend, its brilliant to see it (and ride it!). I can't think of any public registered bus routes quite like the 339. Although I assume there must be heritage open-top services somewhere as registered bus routes, and I know that Ensignbus actually register their heritage bus routes they operate at Christmas - but thats not a regular operation like the 339.

There has been a slight rise in certain single fares on the 339/381. First of all the popular all day rover prices have not risen and remain at £7 for the buses and £14 for bus and train. There is now a farechart avaliable to look at, it is posted on the bus or simply ask the conductor. Epping, Ongar and Brentwood short hops remain at £1 Epping to North Weald is £2.50 Epping to Ongar is £3 Epping to all destinations beyond Ongar two brewers is £5 The fares are marginally cheaper than those offered by Trustybus and you get an RT, RM or RML and occsaionaly an RF or SM plus a conductor to chat with.. advertising pitch over
