I'd rather not have this because it relies on the expansion of Selborne Walk and more wretched out of place tower blocks. It means the loss of green spaces and trees that form a long standing shaded walkway to the High Street and will create horrendous wind tunnelling in and around the bus station. We just don't need this out of place gentrification.

Waltham Forest Council has now approved a new entrance to the Victoria Line, as part of the redevelopment of the shopping centre. The new entrance would have steps and lift access to a new sub-surface ticket hall, then lift and escalator access to platform level. Use of Walthamstow Central has increased by a quarter in the past five years, and peak-time closures would become necessary at a point in the near future - the pandemic has delayed that moment, but not put it off indefinitely. It is estimated that up to 40% of passengers would access the Victoria Line via the new entrance. There would be no link between the new entrance and the Overground platforms, this would continue to be via the existing entrance. It is a shame this has been approved, another disgusting sky rise piece of crap around Walthamstow Central. The whole area around the looks poo to be honest, hardly much skylight as it was around 20 years ago.

The whole area around the looks poo to be honest, hardly much skylight as it was around 20 years ago. Couldn’t agree more. Much like Lewisham and so many other parts of London. If shutting out natural light and cramming more people into smaller spaces is progress, I don’t know what people are smoking. Certainly not thinking about long term quality of life that’s for sure.
