Came across this, www.farnboroughairshow.com/trade/media-centre/news/airshow-blogs/get-me-to-the-show-on-time/Appears there are more shuttle buses. Last time (show is every 2 years), Stagecoach we’re still running the trains, but now it is South Western Railway (70% First Group) as rail operator, so who will provide the station shuttles. These are bit of a poisoned chalice to some UK Operators as they carry lots of Foreign visitors that would be expecting fully air conditioned services, especially if current weather continues. I’m sure Go-Ahead commercial were operating some of the car park shuttles last time (although these tend to be UK visitors arriving in their air conditioned cars), so not quite so fussy.

Go-Ahead London have registered two airshow shuttle services for the entire week (16th-22nd):
- Bus Station to Queens Parade car park - Bus Station to Gate I
They have also registered four services for the public weekend (21st/22nd):
- Bus Station to Rushmoor Arena car park - Bus Station to Gate F - Gate F to Queens Parade car park - Gate F to Eelmoor car park
Go-Ahead tend to run the car park shuttle services, with additional vehicles sought for the weekend Queens Parade car park service. Last year saw assistance from Metrobus, Go Coach and Mortons Travel. They also operate an all-week 806 bus service from Kings Cross/St Pancras via Euston, Baker Street, Marble Arch and Earls Court; a weekend 807 bus service from Victoria via Earls Court and Hatton Cross; and a weekday 808 ‘Executive’ coach service from Heathrow Airport. They haven’t registered any services to the railway stations, so one presumes it is ‘business as usual’ for Go Ahead again this year.
Stagecoach tend to run the railway station shuttles - 800 to Farnborough Main and 801 to Aldershot on the SWR network, plus 802 to North Camp on the GWR network. I would imagine these are organised by the airshow rather than the relevant train operator. Stagecoach are the largest local bus operator (depot in Aldershot and another in Guildford), so their presence on airshow shuttle services makes sense due to location rather than just the fact they used to run one of the two franchises that operate train services served by the shuttle buses.
That said, if we suddenly see a load of First Group vehicles in place of Stagecoach on the station shuttles this year, then we know I’m wrong. However given their nearest depots are now Slough, Portsmouth and Southampton, it probably wouldn’t be much to First’s benefit to ship a load of vehicles over due to the cost of accommodating vehicles and drivers - or shuttle drivers to/from Farnborough - each day. If service provision is linked to the two train companies though, then I’d imagine First Rail Support would just use whichever local contractors are available.

As far as i am aware the buses used this year have been commercial DD’s mostly the recent Enviro 400 additions ex SW (route 196) doing the on site and station to gate work, with the newer commercial E’s working the longer distance duties with the white coaches that are on loan from Volvo. The on site shuttles are using ex MB E200’s from the 284/181 a couple of which have been refurbished for the 225 and will go to MG after. Brighton and Hove and Metrobus Crawley are also providing support to GAL as they usually do with vehicles on site covering various duties.
