Bet there won't be a PVR increase, though. As things currently stand the current route the 339 takes is not that developed and has the railway to one side. Therefore demand will be much lower than the proposed route. My only concern is that the 339 is not exactly a quiet route anyway and suddenly serving 3 education establishments (2 schools and UEL) is likely to put the route under severe pressure at school times. The more logical thing to do would be to extend the 241 which would, at east, give capacity for school time crowds. "Baby" Enviros will struggle. The other issue in the Olympic Park is that there is a real lack of bus stands. It's as if no one thought that there might be sense in creating stand space up front to allow buses to serve the park but not have to through services being the only basis of serving the park. The other "gap" is that there is no bus service link at Pudding Mill Lane DLR / lower Marshgate Lane and the roads in that area have reopened. There are height restrictions under the railway which would mean using single deckers and there's no logical route to send that way. Diverting the 276 would take too long and be costly. The only other options would be to single deck the D8 but that would break the Stratford Bus Stn - Bromley by Bow link or to do something very radical with the 488 but that would break links in Bow and Hackney Wick. Shame there's not the money to extend the 236 on from Hackney Wick to Stratford.

You can rely on no-one having the foresight to create the stand space up front, given nobody was so tasked in relation to the far bigger problem of what to do with all those truncated Oxford Street bus routes, or, if they were tasked, they frankly did a sh*t job.
A 236 extension, as you say, would be a nice solution, creating some quite useful extra links in the process. Stratford to Finsbury Park, doable lengthwise I would think, but who can tell in these troubled times?

I like the idea of extending the 241 in the Olympic Park it could really become a useful route - The Here East extension is pretty pointless IMO.

The Here East shuttle is extremely well used during the peak hours and has left passengers behind on some occasions i have seen it. A 241 extension could have every chance of being quite well used also.

It is indeed free, it takes you right around to the main area of the Here East complex. When I used it it had a decent load for an afternoon.

Shame there's not the money to extend the 236 on from Hackney Wick to Stratford. The clearance of the railway bridge under Marshgate Lane (south) is 18 feet, plenty room to fit deckers under. Don't rely on Google Maps for their Streetview image from 2015; contractors have dredged the road ridiculously under there (likely to facilitate lorries) with the pavement staying at the same height as before. Not only am I local to the area, but as recently as yesterday I went to a brand launch of a clothing line in the Olympic Park and set eyes on the area in question.
