I made some enquiries to go ahead about the school driver but they are vague with the information so i guess they are struggling to get people interested?!

I see go ahead are looking for school bus drivers, It says 30 hours per week but not sure what the pay is or what happens when its the school hols? Most bus operators seem to be recruiting if a full time job with work all year round is what you are really after School bus jobs are what they are - they suit a lot of people because of the hours and having weekends and school holidays off. No doubt overtime is subject to availability.

It says 30 hours per week so six hours a day on a school is a lot! It doesnt say the pay but surely the hourly rate has to be in line with a full timer? It would be interesting to hear from other school drivers on here. Im curious now 😂

Im curious now 😂 You have to consider its a average of 30 hours - You have to sign on, run light to the start of the route, drive the route, then run light back to the garage or maybe do a cross-link on another route. A Stagecoach example is the 678 which runs on the 86 in-between and after the school run.

I made some general enquiries out of curiosity and they have asked me if i want to ‘pop’ along to Northumberland park for an interview? I thought it was all done from camberwell? No mention of any assesments so who knows!

Hard to believe but agencies are still recruiting for immediate starts! Dont really know how this will work having interviews and assesments? I checked and they are recruiting now not for when covid dies down. Is an interview essential travel?

There are shortages and open duties that need covering.

I was told 16% of drivers off across the network Hard to believe but agencies are still recruiting for immediate starts! Dont really know how this will work having interviews and assesments? Agencies seem to be screaming out for drivers for a variety of jobs, even more so since the virus began.

Hello all. Erm... I just applies to Stagecoach London for their trainee role. And so far I got accepted for their final assessment. I am 18, but I dont have any driving experience as I only got my license about 4 months ago. Is there a point of continuing my application?

I've (surprisingly) not heard before of any requirements for car driving experience at Stagecoach, and I know a few people who have started there with less than 1 year car driving experience - so my advice would be go for it, ace the assessments, don't worry about how much experience you have or haven't got, and see how far you go (hopefully to a full time bus driver!) You won't regret it - it can be tough but I love working on the buses. The family-esque culture I've found is quite unlike any other sector I've been in. It's very rewarding and motivating.

I would expect it would consist of a basic English and Maths assessment, basic questions around customer interaction and driving, and probably a small briefing about Stagecoach and what the job would entail. It may also contain some team exercises, I know some companies do that.
