It's certainly the Watford DC that is next Surprising that they leave the Liv Street lines until last, the current stock is ancient (Excuse my exaggeration.) and really does need replacing sooner rather then later. Yes but at least it has running trains, the Watford DC currently has a irregular service and a missing train which is far more important in simply replacing old trains which end of the day are still getting the job done.

Oh, I thought the only irregular service was in the GOBLIN line which has now reverted back to its normal timetable.

I don’t think they have been passed for working in multiple yet, and not many single unit workings on the Liverpool Street Lines. Back in the 1980s, just after the 315s started, all trains at weekend were single units, but I don’t think that is plan nowadays

With most 710s now in service on the Gospel Oak-Barking line, perhaps a 378 released could temporarily return to the Watford line to fill the gap, even if it is only 4 coaches? Also, with the Watford line set to be reduced to 4-car services with the 710s, how does the capacity per carriage compare between the 378s/710s?

The 4 car 378's have already returned to the DC line, The units will remain 4 car until they fall back into exam cycles. I've noticed that the 710's only did roughly about week's worth of DC Testing on the DC lines.

I take it you mean 710s, the 701s are going to SWR. The extra 378s will move to the East London Line.

It appears at least one 710 is in service on the Watford line (told it is 710 263, but unconfirmed)
Not sure how long it will take to fully convert the line

How many trains need replacing? 6 units were ordered for the line Ah, so the only 2 lines that are getting a full Class 710 conversion are the GOBLIN line and those out of Liverpool Street.

6 units were ordered for the line Ah, so the only 2 lines that are getting a full Class 710 conversion are the GOBLIN line and those out of Liverpool Street. The Watford line should fully convert to 710s. Original 710 order: - 30 for services to Chingford/Enfield/Cheshunt - 8 for Gospel Oak to Barking - 1 for Romford to Upminster - add on of 6 for Watford line Additional 710 order: - 1 further unit for Watford line - 2 for Barking Riverside extension - 6 5-car variants for capacity increase on the north/west london route The Clapham/Richmond-Stratford route will be the only line to be mixed operation of 378s and 710s.
