I know you are only quoting the article but since when was "busses" a word? Journalists and editors who cannot write in their own language. And yes I have double checked the history of the word - busses as plural fell out of use in the 1930s and was abandoned by a key dictionary in 1961.

I had to laugh at the same thing when reading the article. I just did a cut and paste. There is a lot of spelling errors on the Guardian website. I thought they would use spell check, but never seem to. There is more emphasis on adverts than anything else on that site.
