It’s always supposed to be accessible, I only do think TFL will be cutting things because of their financial situation, not that they’re doing it for fun, but realistic thinking you realise they will have to in the upcoming/near future. They have lost a lot of money and need to save to keep them alive. Capitalism at its finest. "Saving money?" Who's creating the fares? I find it ridiculous why my local bus service should be at risk to be diminished because of the p*sspoor planning of fares, if you are having problems then up them a bit! Or merge services and increase the number of bus lanes If we had a true capitalist society then we wouldn't have red London buses. Most of the UK has a deregulated bus network where different companies can run competing services with competing fares etc. I'm not a capitalist but I do think the model of competition for the market rather than competition in the market is a barmy one. Also if the government want to encourage rail travel then they should start part subsidising train fares to encourage people to take the train for domestic journeys when flying/driving can often be cheaper.

no need for everyone to be attacking each other, none of us are experts and we all have our own opinions. theres no need for all this fighting back. if you don’t agree, you don’t and if you do, you do. I totally agree and if people don't like the subject they don't have to participate, the title of the thread is self explainitary. Sorry but when did you become a moderator? The irony of your post is you can’t handle any opinion that doesn’t conform to yours - put the stones down inside your glass house please.

I'm sure this thread was about the Central London bus cuts consultations which were announced two years ago.

It is the Mayor that has decreed the fare freeze ... so it you are calling him a capitalist, yes then blame them ... otherwise your proportion of blame is wrongly attributed. What I find capitalist is their consistent "profit" mindset on something that should be public. Costs have to be paid for somehow ... doesn't matter private or public sector ... and they dont make a profit ... which is why they are in the situation they are currently in.

I find it ridiculous why my local bus service should be at risk to be diminished because of the p*sspoor planning of fares, if you are having problems then up them a bit! Or merge services and increase the number of bus lanes Your getting really heated for no reason, it’s really not that serious. It’s just speculation and at the end of the day you’re acting very immature. If the 24 is your local, then ok. It is also mine, and has been for 14 years. I see it from my window all my life, so I feel I can comment about it. If you also think TFL will care, then please speak some more. Because they won’t. TFL have done a lot of things that loads of commuters don’t like and have done nothing to change them. The 25 cut is an example. Please speak with a lower tone. I understand however it's ridiculous how TFL have gone about these cuts. They try sneaking out the 303 and 384 changes, don't even take on residents views and opinions. The 274 is a route I have commented on as I have also lived near it recently (I recently moved out) and I have seen its loadings. What I find ridiculous is why all the cuts all end up in areas of poverty, like Brixton and Peckham. Brixton, in fairness it did only lose the 3 iirc, but then you look at Peckham and it's lost a multitude of routes. And I can tell why they do these type of changes, and it's because they have people are highly reliant on the bus so they won't be driven away (I've made this point before) whereas if this was elsewhere there would be problems and people would walk away. VWH1414 has spoken himself about his difficulty with the 303 changes and how his getting around has changed. Tfl may not listen but Sadiq has now strangled him and his votes, I cannot imagine Sadiq lasting another term realistically, I'm angry that I'm having to worry for my own bus service possibly going because of TFLs budgeting problems. COVID caused problems and even if they did not enforce cuts before, they would likely have more passengers. Understandably, some routes aren't being used but some like the 25, 171 and 242 pre 2017 were being used so how can I stand by this? The virus has shook society, thou I am angry as to why no one is speaking out about this. Dunkirk made public transport free and everyone started using it, however I suspect they will need to implement some sort of system at some point where people pay. And what's even more aggravating is how the hopper is being removed, meaning people who use a route like the 25 may end up needing to pay double/triple their current fare due to its removal. Khan himself said he was disagreeing with the removal, so it's understandable. I personally am not the biggest fan of Khan and Hobbs as you all can tell, but it's not fun needing to worry if a bus will not have changes and frankly the whole Hopper strategy is not something everyone will catch onto. We are moving into an age of driverless vehicles, this could lower operational costs for companies as drivers will not be needed.

Or merge services and increase the number of bus lanes Which brings us to the point - what are buses for? If they are there purely to make money for their shareholders (even if that shareholder is 100% local authority or government) then buses are clearly failing and all unprofitable routes and times should be cut. If however they are there for the wider benefits - a recent report from KPMG suggests that each £1 invested in bus services has the potential to produce £4.48 in economic, social and environmental benefits, then you invest and subsidise. Even the current (Conservative) Government is on board with this.

The 184 is going to Metroline, all new electric bus orders are cancelled and Abellio is now part of RATP if you listen to everything you see on here.

Did someone actually say the 184 is going to Metroline or was it just a tender suggestion? Whether it was 1 person or 100 people a tender suggestion is fine. Maybe I've missed a few but posts I saw have been more "if metroline win the 184" or "my prediction is the 184 to be won by Metroline" I haven't seen any posts that says "metoline have won the 184"

No one said all electric bus orders are cancelled - some of us speculated about it including me and I certainly made it clear from my part it was speculation.

That would have broken the around the corner link from Kingsland Road to Hackney and Homerton Hospital which would not have been very popular. Bringing in a new topic here, but I do see TFL changing massively, withdrawing whatever they can at this point. It won’t matter about links, use the bus or not. TFL are in a lot of trouble at the moment, and need to make some change asap. Links to hospitals remain very politically sensitive. See recent consultation decision on 110/H22 in Twickenham and extension of N20 to Barnet Hospital and 383 proposed extension to Finchley Memorial Hospital. No politician will be seen cutting links to hospitals at the moment especially not the current Mayor.

The 383 and N20 are probably small costs that's will benefit a few so are a good win for TFL. The H22 extension was probably away of silencing the critics in order for the rest of the Richmond changes to go ahead.
