Oddly my local doctors surgery in Blackheath has copies of some of the leaflets. The one for the 53 also includes the 3, 9 and 14 which makes very little sense. They also had the one for the 4, 40, 45, 76, 100, 242, 341, 343 and 388 & another covering the 4, 76, 172, 341, 343 and RV1. They're pretty hopeless even without the bizarre distribution.

I can see why the 9 is on there, even though the 9 and 53 close enough to overlapped at Trafalgar Square, it’s still an odd choice. The 14 change bears no relation to the 53's so is a bizzare choice. The changes to the 3/45/53/171/172/343/468 would be good to all put on the same leaflet.

Wasn't sure best place to put this. Do we know if the 48/55 and 388 changes are still planned to go ahead in October? Guess TfL will let us know about 2 weeks before the changes take place.

Yes, as far as I'm aware they're still going ahead. I think you're right, they'll probably keep it quiet as long as they can.

As far as TFL are concerned they have already told us with the consultation results.

This is not official just my guess that the schedules for the 55 will be made in order to accommodate stand space at both the western and eastern terminus.
At Oxford Circus the previous stand directly opposite to the McDonalds is no longer vacant. All buses now share stand on the other side of the traffic lights with the 73.
On another note, I am not a regular user of route 48 but the route does carry heavy loads of passengers so TFL are making a really big mistake by withdrawing the route. Route 55 is a major flagship route, I've actually seen it packed to the door and passengers not being able to board. The route will require extra vehicles presumably new MMC vehicles as the Routmeasters in use on the 48 is being deployed on to route 67.

The 55 will take some of the 48's LT's when the 48 is withdrawn. The 67 only requires 13 LT's and already has 8 LT's freed up from the cut to the 59 & spares taken from the 38 so only requires another 5 LT's.

The 67 could probably be completed with 5 LTs each coming off the 253/254. That plus the ones from the 48 could easily convert another route.

There are plenty of spare LTs from the withdrawn 48 to cover the 55 increase and finish the 67 conversion. X2 ex BW buses have moved into T recently to help cover for shortages of LTs recently so cant see them ordering new buses especially as the route only has two more years to run on the current tender.

I see it almost every day at Liverpool street and its always carrying healthy loads - and completely rammed in the peaks. I sort of tend to agree that there are a few routes which can be rationaliser as they duplicate too much; but 48 is not one of them!

The LOTS managing Ed stated elsewhere that all 48 LTs will be retained by Arriva to convert another route. The 67 will be finished off by 253/4 reductions.

That suggests the that no new buses will be needed for 34/102 now.
