One with a personal resonance:- The 331 to Harefield Hospital - The Hollies - The Air That I Breathe. I've been to Harefield many times, though admittedly never by bus, but I'd like to dedicate this wonderful song, wonderfully performed, to a wonderful hospital that has saved and prolonged the lives of many people over many years, not least through their continuing programme of lung transplants, hence the song chosen. Thank you, Harefield.

311 when introduced: Eagles' New Kid in Town I like your suggestion, however, I would give the 'New Kid In Town' title to the proposed new 110 that will run from Hammersmith to Hounslow. Here is my reasoning. New Kid in Town from the Hotel California album was recorded in the U.S.A. but the Eagles breakthrough album in 1972 that introduced the world to that quitessentially laid back west coast country rock sound was recorded not in California but in Barnes!. Although the new 110 if implemented will not, like the 209 and 485, pass the doors of Olympic, I feel that being a new kid in Barnes will give it an edge over the 311 for the title.

Any route which gets hacked to a shadow of its former shelf / withdrawn: while my guitar gently weeps

Keeping to the Eagles, and I wonder which is the best London bus route for avoiding traffic delays? Whichever it is, this route could have Life in the Fast Lane dedicated to it. Route 96 could have Question Mark & the Mysterians' 96 Tears dedicated. Similarly, route 7 could gain .... you've guessed it ..... the Goombay Dance Band's Seven Tears.

Life in the Fast Lane followed by a police car blaring out Radar Love. Just to confuse passengers around Woolwich and Plumstead, the rather annoyingly catchy 99 Red Balloons could run along some of the same roads as 96 Tears: you could add a touch of class by playing the original German version. Now, which route is going to claim Wild Thing for itself, and why? The 123, perhaps?

I'd nominate the 109 for Wild Thing In a nod to the 45's proposed cut - What Have I Done to Deserve This by Pet Shop Boys

I'd nominate the 109 for Wild Thing In a nod to the 45's proposed cut - What Have I Done to Deserve This by Pet Shop Boys The Who's I Can See for Miles would be a good one for both the 53 (western side of Blackheath) and W3 (Ally Pally). If the song had been out in January 1962 then you could nominate for the withdrawal of the 666 trolleybus route the Rolling Stones 'Sympathy for the Devil'. Bringing things up to the present day I have an apt song for the whole of TfL. Given the recent regular changes to the bus routes serving the Berkeley Square and British Museum routings, add in the constant glaring mistakes that appear in many TfL consultation documents, plus their failure to adequately publicise some service changes e.g. the recent 303/305 changes, I would nominate Gerry Rafferty's 'Get It Right Next Time'.

'First Cut is the Deepest' could be an apt swansong for the 10.
'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' for a night version of the 274.Geddit?
Quite a few would suit the bendybus-era 436. 'Fire Brigade' by The Move and 'Wheel's On Fire' by Julie Driscoll et al would suffice, but I'd go for 'Fire!' BY The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, a man who built a decades-long career out of the one song!

Can anyone list me two routes that have both termini the same but follow different routes? Routes 285 and 111 both terminate at Heathrow Central and Kingston Routes 214 and 271 both terminate at Highgate Village and Moorgate, Finsbury Square The 322 and 417 with Crystal Palace & Clapham Common. - before the 3’s route started being hacked to bits - the N137 & 3 - Oxford Circus- Crystal Palace - before the 322 was diverted to Clapham Common, Route 322 and 363 with Elephant & Castle & Crystal Palace. 159 & 137 both starting somewhere within the Streatham/Streatham Hill area - Marble Arch. Another pair which are very close are D3 and 309. Both start at Bethnal Green, bonner road. The 309 goes to Canning Town while the D3 stops a few metres before at Leamouth

‘Fly away’ by Lenny Kravitz. Any route serving Heathrow or City Airports Maybe time to wrap this sub-section, so I'll go out with 'Du Quesyne Whistle Blowing' by Bob Dylan (bearing in mind it's pronounced Du Cane) a shoo-in for the 7 I seem to remember a Suzi Quatro hit from the Seventies 'Dagnam Park Drive', but I wasn't listening too closely, so could be wrong on that. Would that be the 174, I'm hazy on east of Romford? Finally, generic ones that might fit virtually any current route: 'Help!' the Beatles and 'SOS' Abba.

Bit of a safe one here for buses in Kingston - Kingston Town by UB40
