Iv used the 432 and off-peak the journey time difference is not that great. Also agree about not wanting any cutbacks to the 3. I don't even agree with cutting it to Whitehall as Trafalgar Square is much mroe of an interchange and destination. I can see useage north of Brixton dropping with more taking the 159.

If you have connections to make, it can make the difference - don't forget that once the 3 leaves Herne Hill, it runs along roads that are rarely filled with traffic bar South Croxted Road at certain times whereas the 432 has to run along Norwood Road which can clog up and then the queue on Central Hill which can snake back quite far at times.

Majority of use for the 432 from CP would be to West Norwood and Tulse Hill as opposed to end to end.
Nothing seems to have come of the rumour of the 415 and 432 merging. When I saw this consultation i did wonder if it would be part of it.

Your missing the point - I didn't say the majority of the 432 patronage is just people doing the route from Palace to Brixton but there are a good number who make that journey. Hopefully that rumour remains just like that - a rumour!

Unfortunately some of the rumours such as the 13 and 48 have come true with possibly the 357 aswell so may not bode well for the 415/432.

This went under the radar it seems (even I forgot about it) but it was finally updated October last year, a year after the original consultation and looks like most of the changes are not going ahead. Here is a summary of the original changes: Rationalising bus stopping arrangements for southbound services in Brixton Town centre. We will reduce the number of bus stops from three to two which will better match destinations and improve interchange between bus services. One bus stop will serve routes to Herne Hill and Tulse Hill etc and the other will serve routes to Brixton Hill and beyond. Creating a double bus lane on Brixton Road (southbound only). This will reduce the number of general traffic lanes to one. Starting the southbound bus lane on the A23, south of the junction Acre Lane, Coldharbour Lane and Effra Road earlier Relocating and slightly increasing the length of a loading bay in the southbound bus lane Providing signage and line markings which will make it clear which lanes vehicles should use at the Acre Lane/Coldharbour Lane and Effra Road junction. This will improve safety. And here is what they're doing some time early this year: We will retain three bus stops in the town centre Stop Q will remain unchanged Stop P will remain in its current location and will be served by routes 3, 35, 355 and P4. This means that the two stops nearest to the junction with Coldharbour Lane serve routes continuing on Effra Road towards Herne Hill and Tulse Hill Stop N will be relocated further south and will serve routes 45, 59, 109, 118, 133, 159, 250, 333 to Brixton Hill and beyond. These routes carry the highest number of passengers in the scheme area. Walking distances to and from Brixton Underground station for passengers using these routes will be reduced by approximately 25 metres So in essence, nothing really - no double size bus lane for buses to move around stationary buses and no bus lane on the beginning section of Brixton Hill opposite the town hall. No surprise to see a consultation I generally supported not going ahead. consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/brixton-town-centre/consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/brixton-town-centre/user_uploads/brixton-town-centre-southbound-bus-services-consultation-report.pdf

Whilst their responses are unclear, you're incorrect when you say
If you look at the maps of their proposals after the consultation, both of those are going ahead. As far as I can tell, the only difference to what they originally proposed is to has 3 bus stops instead of 2.

Yes, looks like I read it wrong so Brixton will actually get a small benefit for a change. Still not sure how far they can realistically move the Brixton Hill bound stop given the loading bay and how frequently used it is by delivery vehicles for shops, especially Iceland.

An update:
Work started yesterday by moving the existing shelter for Brixton Hill routes from outside H&M to outside JD Sports. Today, the shelter outside Iceland has been moved to outside H&M so all three stops will be together with the loading bay moving to outside Iceland. The bus stop flag pole is still outside Iceland but not in use despite buses continuing to stop there.

Update 2: The bus stop flag for the 3, 35, 355, P4 & N3 has been moved to where it's shelter sits which is between the Effra Road bound stop outside KFC & the Brixton Hill bound stop outside JD Sports - however, it's bus stop cage still exists outside Iceland and the loading bay that our truck uses for delivery is still in it's original place which meant Brixton Hill bound buses had to use the 3, 35, 355, P4 & N35 stop whilst our truck was parked up.
I can foresee an issue potentially happening where the pavement becomes quite overcrowded where the three stops now reside especially with the Brixton Hill bound stop which is the busiest of the three stops for good reason - I suspect that's why that stop originally was outside KFC before it swapped places. This change also reverses TfL's decision roughly 20 odd years ago where the stop outside Boots (serving the 2, 196 & N2) was removed to leave just two stops on that section with the stop outside Iceland having been their for donkeys until Tuesday.

Hectic this morning when I went past. Buses still picking up and dropping off outside Iceland and many confused travellers having to rush from one stop to another. Also saw people waiting at the now non existant bus stop

Also saw people waiting at the now non existant bus stop Yeah, that’s happened a lot - they have two members of staff where the old stop was. Saw a 355 picking up at the wrong stop earlier whilst the pavement got very congested outside JD Sports.

Are the members of staff those wearing blue hi vis jackets and always chatting on the side instead of helping customers out?
