If the order announced January was 300 buses, and now be revealed that ADL have 170 of them, who has the other 130 ? Maybe that hasn't been announced yet. Some of the 300 will be for Coventry which is subject to its own separate funding agreement as the UK Government's first all-electric bus city.

My reading of the article is that the other 130 are those (BYD/E400) currently being delivered to Coventry, though it is not altogether clear. All the publicity quotes a TOTAL of 300.

That's where I am confused too, National Express said 300 in January, but the 130 for Coventry were under the electric bus city deal year or two back. Even ADL (strictly NFI in press release say ".... has taken a firm order from National Express West Midlands for a further 170 double deck electric buses, to be delivered by the end of 2024. The new order will take the number of BYD AD Enviro400EV buses operated by National Express in the West Midlands to 329." www.nfigroup.com/news-releases/news-release-details/nfi-subsidiary-alexander-dennis-receives-repeat-electric-busThe original 29 were under a Green bus grant, then had the 130 extra for Coventry, and now 170 more I wonder if they are double counting the Coventry order, or if there is 130 of something else, maybe single decks.

It reads to me that they have a further 130 bus order to confirm, so perhaps it is with a different manufacturer or is single deckers. The numbers do seems to add up.

This article suggests that the 170 are the balance of the order for 300, which also includes the 130 that have already been ordered for Coventry and are currently entering service. By the end of 2024 NXWM will have 329 EVs (specifically, BYD D8UR/ADL Enviro400 City EV) in service, which includes the initial batch of 29 that entered service in Birmingham in 2020 on route 6 from Yardley Wood Depot. National Express (through its Transport Solutions subsidiary) owns a further four BYD/ADL vehicles, which entered service on the Harry Potter Studio Tour shuttle in Watford in 2022. They are numbered in a common sequence with the NXWN vehicles (as E030-E033) and are garaged at Mullany's Coaches, who operate the shuttle. www.focustransport.org/2023/04/new-order-for-enviro400evs-will-take.htmlNational Express pledged at the end of February 2020 that it would not buy any more diesel buses, and that its last such bus had already been delivered to NXWM. It has set an ambitious target for its bus operations to be fully zer-emission by the end of 2030, and for its coach operations to be zero-emission by 2035. As well as electrics, NXWM is also operating twenty Wright Streetdeck Hydroliners on route 51 out of Walsall Depot - unusually, these are owned by Birmingham City Council and carry the City coat of arms. NXWM is seeking funding for an additional 200 Hydroliners. tangytango.proboards.com/post/554863/thread - National Express will never again buy a diesel bus

National Express has announced that it will operate electric shuttle buses for the Glastonbury Festival between 21-26 June, the buses will operate between Bristol and the Festival site at Worthy Farm. Presumably these will be some of the BYD D8UR/ADL Rnviro400 City EV that are currently on delivery to National Express West Midlands and will enter regular service in the West Midlands after the Festival. NX will partner with Zenobe on infrastructure and operations. National Express UK is the official coach travel partner of the Festival and, as well as the shuttle buses, will procure direct coach services from over 60 locations across the country to and from the Festival. www.route-one.net/coach/national-express-goes-electric-for-glastonbury/

NXWM is trialling a Newport Bus Yutong E12 on its route 20 (Coventry-Nuneaton) - the vehicle is CE23 ZGK and carries temporary fleetnumber 1908 and "National Express Coventry" fleetnames on its allover green Newport livery. This follows the earlier trial of a Mercedes e-Citaro. National Express's Coventry operation is due to be fully electric by the end of 2024, and the entire National Express West Midlands fleet is set to be zero-emission by the end of 2030. www.focustransport.org/2023/05/national-express-coventry-trialling.html
