Call me cynical but is Barking & Dagenham scraping money together to make sure the bin men get a proper wage in case they strike again? Sigh, more unffordable homes being built for people who aren't locals - this time in Barking but you could substitute it for almost any place in London.

It's actually surprising how much Barking has already been gentrified, the "Penthouse Apartment" by the station is taking shape while the first group of people have moved into Weavers Quarter. Just felt like yesterday they were closing off sections for demolition. As for the 169 stand issue I'm surprised it's not happened sooner to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised to see them send it around the Abbey Ruins to stand where Rail Replacement buses usually park up, then for it to head around the Abbey Green and down North Street to pick up Line of route again. There's also going to be a load of flats built on the site of the old Abbey Retail Park so a bus there would be most welcome. A new stop could potentially be created north of Gascoigne Estate West as well.

Considering I grew up just off King Edwards Road and all my mates lived on "The "Goine (Gascoigne Estate) I really couldn't believe how much of the old estate had been turned over for new housing. The amount of development around Barking right now is quite amazing, with a serious number of flats now going up across the western side of the Town Centre It's a shame Sainsbury's abandoned their plans to build on the old Abbey Retail Park, that would have been an ideal location for the 169 to be sent off to- considering there's always at least 2 169s on stand most times it would have been a pretty easy extension

Some of the old tower blocks on the estates on all sides of Brixton have also been pulled down though the survivors have been refurbished with mixed results aesthetically - I remember the days as a kid where intercom didn't exist and you could walk into most blocks uninterrupted. For those interested, the landmark 'Barrier Block' still stands tall as that reminder of what Brixton would of been had the planners got their way.
