Its a bit rich coming from a mini helland, cycle lunatic borough. They say "But councillors complained that the lack of bus routes – a TfL responsibility – was a problem for people in the borough. " a bloody joke imo. "“We need to acknowledge that using the car is still a need for people in this borough.” " well they made it worse with their cycle haven

Remember this is the same Enfield Council that came up with a load of lunatic suggestions to change bus routes in its borough. Look where that got them - nowhere. I can't think of a single thing they suggested that has actually materialised. I suspect all the Boroughs are going to be fed up with TfL because every borough in the capital has seen / will see cuts to services. I suspect if someone went through a list of the changes over the last 18-24 months every borough would have had at least one cut to its bus services. TfL isn't answerable to the boroughs so they can moan all they like but it won't have any effect until their objections and complaints collide with something the Mayor wants done. Witness the pain Westminster CC has inflicted on TfL.

Witness the pain Westminster CC has inflicted on TfL. Good luck to Enfield with that one! Perhaps they should put their hand in their (council taxpayers) pocket and fund some of these routes. It's now going to cost more than it did as slower traffic mean more buses are needed and it seems there are far more people making a modal switch from bus to cycle than car to bus, ergo fewer passengers = less income.
Perhaps one day it will be realised that failure of one kind or another is the only possible result if you have conflicting policies. If you want 80% of journeys by walking, cycling and public transport, then you can't afford to have bus patronage declining and the resultant cuts in bus services. Modal switch away from buses to other forms of public transport or walking or cycling won't help you reach the 80% target. It is just as well it is a target as on current policies it is unlikely ever to be reached.
