Up until a few weeks ago, I had one of those blue Oyster card holders/wallets, however the inside plastic pocket ripped rendering it useless... I went to look for a new one at Edgware and have looked multiple times at Mill Hill East, but to no avail... Any ideas where I could get a free replacement wallet/which stations regularly have them? (Preferably not too far from Edgware/MHE) Are there any special/differently designed free ones anyone knows of eg Ikea or National Rail ones? Also what is TfL's policy regarding the distribution of them, do they go to all stations at specific times etc?

If you ask nicely on twitter, some train operating companies give them to you if you dm them

I needed a new one a few months back, asked one of the staff who kindly gave me one.

I purchased 10(!) of the blue ones (original oyster ones) on eBay for 99p!

They used to be sometimes kept on the top edge of the large LU touch screen ticket machines so people could help themselves. I would simply ask a "roving" member of LU staff for one - assuming staff are actually in the ticket hall!! Thankfully I have amassed a bit of a collection over the years of various designs - I'm currently using a wallet from the launch of the East London Line Overground service. At some point I might be brave and use my old white Network Southeast wallet although that's not really designed for Oyster Cards. The other thing to do, if you have the money, is to simply buy a leather Oyster Card wallet - loads of places sell such things. If you are feeling very rich then there are fancy ones available at the LT Museum Shop / website. Sometimes they have a sale to clear out old stock so the prices are a tad less outrageous than they normally are. www.ltmuseumshop.co.uk/gifts/travel-card-wallets#show=23

I hardly use my oyster wallet (but always in pocket) and it's already knackered after having new one for few months. There are some rare ones on eBay though...and some nice Oyster cards as well like Adidas/Royal Wedding or others.

I currently use a Metrobus one that was issued with my Student Key card (ripped but holds the card securely)
