An updated version of the Enviro 200 has just begun operating on the 224 route. The 224 currently operates between Wembley Stadium Station and St. Raphael's. Buses in both directions serve the same stop in several locations including the stop beside Park Royal Asda. I was waiting on Thursday evening at the Park Royal Asda stop, waiting for something else, when a 224 rolled in. The first surprise was it displaying a destination of KEW GREEN. As it stood with the driver apparently in no hurry, the blind began changing as though the driver was trying to find the correct destination But it was the way the blind was changing that was so puzzling. It was changing (to the next destination on the blind) just once every five seconds or so, and then after this brief inactivity, it would change to the next destination. The bus eventually moved off, still not correct as the last destination I saw on the blind was CHISWICK BUSINESS PARK. How do the blinds on these new buses actually work?

The 224 now runs using enviro 200 mmc. I believe the way it works, is that the driver selects a destination in the cab, and each route and destination has its own barcode. The blinds will now start scrolling, until it scans the corresponding barcode. I don’t know why it was slow though, it may have been faulty?? Older buses just have a manual handle that you turn and you can see the destination through a little viewfinder in the cab
