I noticed a seemingly unimportant and unnecessary change recently - 'Cameron Road' was changed to 'Hayes Road/Cameron Road' although the stop in the opposite direction wasn't. I can only think the reason could have been that the name-changed stop serves the 119, 146, 246, 314, 352 and the unchanged one only serves the 119, 146 and 314 and there was a desire to avoid confusion between the two, but neither stops are very heavily used - so why would such a minor and seemingly needless change like this go ahead when it seems unnecessary? What would bring a change like this to attention (when there seems to be no obvious problem to be solved)?

Whereas in Streatham Hill, at some point, the stop formerly known as Streatham Hill Station/Leigham Court Road is now known as just Leigham Court Road whereas Streatham Hill Station/Streatham Hill has retained it's name. Why waste money changing the name of a stop that didn't cause any issues in the first place? The ironic thing is Streatham Hill Station is closer to the Leigham Court Road stops than the one located on Streatham Hill but the Streatham Hill is used by those who don't wish to be stuck at the lights.

The TfL methodology on passenger benefits would typically dictate that stops that are busy / reasonably busy with a mix of services (high and low frequency) would deliver the greatest benefit. Some stops with very high numbers of buses do get displays even though the wait time in normal circumstances will be a matter of a few minutes (if that) for the average passenger. I suspect interchanges are another criteria - some stops at junctions get displays and also beside tube / rail stations. The final factor will be the one you've mentioned - some displays at points where passengers may otherwise feel vulnerable and need the reassurance of knowing when buses are due. Note this is my guess as to how things were done - I may be wrong! The huge problem is that TfL have no room for manoeuvre with stop displays. No one wants to lose an existing display, TfL have no money / refuse to add displays and passengers / politicians are constantly demanding more displays. It is a recipe for disappointment and inaction. Any mayoral candidate with a clue would make more displays on the network a manifesto commitment. TfL would hate it as they don't want more infrastructure to maintain nor to vary the existing I-Bus contract. However I-Bus is going to be replaced and if TfL have designed things properly then an expansion of stop displays should be made as easy as possible. If they've partnered with their bus stop / advertising contractor effectively then you should be able to get screen displays fitted for nothing - the only catch being they'd need to displays adverts for part of the time. Isn't that what's been trialled in Kingston? Of course TfL will cite mobile phones and apps as the answer to more people accessing the info but that ignores those who cannot afford / do not want to run a smartphone. Getting text notifications costs money so even the "poor" option is discriminatory. That tends to fail the politicians test. As I've said before I really think an expansion of stop displays would do TfL's reputation no end of good in some areas and would be relatively cheap (in the broader scheme of things). It would also be great if TfL could re-fit a screen when they replace a shelter that had one previously & not pick and choose which ones get re-fitted - both Brixton Water Lane & Rush Common southbound stops got new shelters yet Rush Commons stop kept their screen whilst my local stop, Brixton Water Lane, lost it's screen. Either remove both screens or re-fit both screens, not pick one and leave the other one out. Not just that but lately on routes I see, few bus shelters got vandalized or crashed into, and TFL just sticks a bus pole and completely removes and seals up the ground of the broken shelter without no intention of installing replacement one...maybe it's because I am in non central area so TFL cares less about it than central but still, I think cheap fixes like that just creates worse off bus user atmosphere and less safe area.

Something that does bug me about certain locations where there are two stops together serving a multitude of routes is where the routes in question are mixed in terms of their corridor of travel. For example, Becmead Avenue northbound has two stops - Stop OA has the 50, 109, 159, 250, 319, N109 & N250 whilst Stop O has the 57, 118, 133, 201, 333, P13 & N133 as well as National Express A3 where as personally, I think OA should gain the 118, 133, 333 & N133 whilst Stop O should gain the 50 & possibly 319 keeping all Brixton bound routes together at one stop.
The same is also true at both Streatham Hill Station, Streatham Hill northbound stops. The former currently has stop B with the 133, 201, 333, 417, P13, N133 & N137 with stop A serving the 57, 109, 118, 159, 250, 319, N109 & N250 - personally, this should be: Stop B - 57, 201, 319, 417, P13 & N137 and Stop A - 109, 118, 133, 159, 250, 333, N109 & N250.
Meanwhile, Telford Avenue northbound is exactly the same minus the 319 & P13 and add in the 59 & 137. Stop TA currently is 57, 133, 137, 333, 417, N133 & N137 while Stop T is 59, 109, 118, 159, 201, 250, N109 & N250 - personally, this should be: Stop TA - 57, 137, 201, 417 & N137 and Stop T - 59, 109, 118, 133, 159, 250, 333, N109, N133 & N250. The added benefits would be that the 201 has more time to access the right hand lane earlier as it doesn't serve the final stop northbound on Streatham Hill due to turning right onto Christchurch Road whilst Stop TA, sometimes used to park buses or driver changeovers, gets freed up a little as a result.
The above changes are mainly due to the most journeys being towards Brixton and by having all Brixton bound routes at one stop means not having to pick which stop to wait at.

Not sure if its the same now but didn't the Southbound Brixton station stops outside the KFC group the 2 and 432 with the Brixton Hill routes which seemed odd when there are so many Brixton Hill routes. Before the changes a few years back, the southbound stops were as messed up as the northbound stops. They were messed up as well during Covid to an extent but since the Tulse Hill & Herne Hill routes have returned to serving Brixton Station, it's more or less laid out nicely again (bar the N35 tile still not removed and N250 on the wrong stop). The northbound stops have not been meddled with for many years now - personally, I think too many buses serve Stop T which obstructs both Brighton Terrace and a parking space on Brixton Road. If I had my way, I'd do this: Stop R currently is 3, 59, 109, 159, 355, N3, N109 - Stop R would become 3, 59, 109, 133, 159, 415, N3, N109, N133 Stop S currently is 118, 133, 415, N133 - Stop S would become 2, 196, 250, 333, 432, N2, N250 Stop T currently is 2, 35, 45, 196, 250, 333, 432, P4, N2, N250 - Stop T would become 35, 45, 118, 355, P4 Thus, Stop R would serve all routes towards Oval, Stop S all routes towards Stockwell & Stop T all routes towards Loughborough Junction with the terminating routes still dotted between all three. Stop T would have far less routes serving it and only one that can see more than 2 buses on the same route arrive at the same time

Did a bit of 63 photography in the early dawn light today at Blackfriars and noticed that the Stop Totem for Blackfriars Station South has a bus countdown built into the "flag" - what a great innovation ! Makes constant reference to the mobile for LVF updates on how long the next photo is due a thing of the past. They just need to add the vehicle details now 😉

(N)28/306 towards Fulham Broadway: North End Road Market -> Mulgrave Road (very weird choice if you ask me) It's because of the long term diversion due to the reconstruction of North End Road. The stop hasn't actually changed name, just the line of route.

370: Pilgrims Lane Caravan Park -> Pilgrims Lane / LTC Compound (not updated on iBus yet but the physical stop names have been changed)
A weird choice to be honest. The Caravan Park closed down so agree that the name should be changed, but the LTC (Lower Thames Crossing) Compound is on the other side of the bridge and isn't publicly accessible - there aren't even any signs at the entrance so the only reference to this site is on Google Maps...
I would rename these stops to 'Pilgrims Lane/Guardian Avenue' as there is an adjacent footpath to this residential area.
