The long-standing marathon South Coast 315 coach route between Helston, Cornwall and Eastbourne is to become considerably less marathon from 1st April, when it is cut back to operate between Plymouth and Bournemouth only. Passengers will still be able to travel to and from Cornish destinations on alternative services, changing at Plymouth.
The route currently operates once a day in each direction and has a running time of 13.5 hours - the eastbound journey leaves Helston at 06.50 and gets to Eastbourne at 20.20, whilst the westbound departs Eastbourne at 07.40 and gets into Helston at 22.15. The fare for the entire journey is £65. There are four refreshment stops en-route, at Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Bridport and Plymouth.

There are very few even moderately fast sections, and ideally you'd make such a journey by train where feasible. The fare is not exactly a bargain either, unless measured by £s per hour's travel!
