So I noticed this had been touched on a little bit previously but only really noticed what’s changed until I was on the 25 and D8 yesterday. The destination seems to appear for longer now after the doors opening (which I’m guessing is to give people a little extra time while the bus has stopped to realise if it’s their stop or not, if it’s not then why do it), but the time it takes to announce the destination and the sequence it shows the messages in can very hugely. Another bug bear is that if it is to do with that the driver doesn’t wait around, pulls away with the stop still showing so people don’t have time to get off anyway, defeats the point really. So on the D8 yesterday afternoon three things happened on the same journey and same bus: 1 - bus stop stayed on screen for about 10 seconds (even that time seemed to vary), changed to ‘D8 to Stratford’ and announced the destination immediately after the screen changed 2 - bus stop stayed on for about 5-10 seconds, changed to D8 and waited for ages to actually announce it (bit like here on this 207 at the start of the video youtu.be/UXJhgPOZ2JY NOT MY VIDEO) 3 - bus stop stayed on screen for about 10, changed to D8 but never even announced the destination at all. Like why and when? I thought number 3 happened when only the back doors opened as no one new getting on the bus needs to hear the destination again but that theory was blown multiple times. Really annoying, this new system seems to have a mind of its own. I get why the stop stays on a bit longer though and that’s a good idea.
