Think it would be fair to say most people prefer Double deckers but there are some great single decker routes out in London. So what is everyone favourite and why? For me it's the 265 as it's got great buses and you can pick up a lot of speed along the A3.

I'm going to go into my childhood years of the 1980s and say the 152 as it also used to pick up speed along the A3 with the LS class Leyland Nationals thrashing along in fourth gear, plus it went to Chessington World of Adventures for a while during certain Sundays. Also loved the route when under Travel London and Abellio for the multiple bus types used on route... essentially almost every bus type the company had.

The R8 would have to be my favorite single deck route although the 358 isn't bad with a Citaro.

I do enjoy the 246, especially on summer Sundays to Chartwell. Great panoramic views coming down Westerham Hill and along the Biggin Hill Airport runway. Wish it was decked really for the views like it used to be sometimes.

The 227 was always a fave for me - firstly for the SPD's & then for the Citaro along with the two hills at either end. Busy but a nice route personally.
The 331 is another nice one - some nice views once out of Ruislip down to Harefield and there is a fast section as well - the Allison Euro VI Enviro 200's are nice to have along there.

It has had double deckers in the past but apparently there is a problem with trees.

I also think the 216 is a nice route. The bit around sunbury is very nice.

Trees prevented standard height double deckers from operating IIRC - I know Stagecoach used the 61 batch of Enviro 400’s on Sundays for a while before the tree issue presumably cropped up? Under Metrobus, I believe the Omnidekkas didn’t have any issues as they were definitely low height but I could be wrong.

216 - lovely scenic route, I especially love the bit near Hampton when you are running alongside the Thames the view is beautiful.
358 - an interesting route, obviously the Citaros help! I love the array of areas the route passes through, I love Crystal Palace and it’s great the route goes out to Farnborough Hill which is a nice area

There was a cross link with the 638 for about six months before TB lost the 246 - pretty annoyed I didn’t get to do the 246 with a decker. There’s a possibility trees are now an issue - apparently trees are the reason we can’t route the 664 through Keston Village even though we’ve gone that way on diversion
