Wow! That leaves Wright bus as the last UK owned builder or full size PCV (both buses and coaches?)

Wow, that’s a shocker.
Aside from some sightseeing E500s(?), do ADL have much of a presence stateside?
Let’s hope the name stays.

The E500MMC seems to be the most popular double deck of choice, right now, across the pond. There are also buses like the New Flyer Midi (ADL and NFI collab), which was a rebadged E200 adapted specifically for Canada and the US.

The Scotsman article I linked says that ADL will retain its own ID within the wider NFI Group. The old head of ADL is the new head of the International Division of NFI so it doesn't look like much will change in the short term. Looks like a clever move by NCI to diversify its product range and support network across the world.

Let's see now if Stagecoach continue to order Alexander Dennis products! In the short to medium term I am sure they will. It's a customer for ADL to lose imo, rather than for others to win.
Must say I am a little disappointed as I liked ADL being a UK manufacturer. So long as the design and manufacturing remains in the UK, I won't be too upset. As a Brit I very much like the idea of our (UK) buses being designed and built in the UK, rather than abroad. Keeping jobs in UK and so on which benefits us all comes to mind.

I wonder if Mr Souter now has a bit of spare cash for a purchase of some more bus operations? Arriva maybe?

I wonder if Mr Souter now has a bit of spare cash for a purchase of some more bus operations? Arriva maybe? Stagecoach aren't buying Arriva because it would have be to split up due to competition rules and DB are not currently interested in diving up the operation in such a way as it would reduce it's worth.

On their own I would agree with you ... but dont rule companies forming consortiums with agreements as to who gets what. Who would get into bed with Stagecoach over this type of arrangement is obviously unknown. Also worth noting that former Arriva Chairman David Martin, who was reported to be trying to organise a consortiim to take back control of Arriva is also Capitals Coasts first preference to take over at First

The BBC are stating that the company taking over is Canadian. They do make buses both sides of the border.
