I did not know if that has been covered, so apologies if it has. I’m currently on a route 3 bus to Crystal Palace, and the automated bus announcements have changed. For example as we arrived at Kennington Park Post Office stop, the announcement said “change here for route 155 from stop....” Then upon arriving at St Marks Church, it said change here for buses towards Camberwell. Is this something new on all TfL routes?

It would be nice, but I doubt it. Most of the more important routes usually have some kind of more special ibus announcements here and there but TFL really wants to assume it's drivers job to advise passengers on such things via PA. I think there is some special one on 343 right now in regards of some road works near elephant and castle so it advises passengers to get off or change bus (more or less), and then on 47 you got stuff like 'please hang on while the bus is moving', I am guessing because it's hybrid...but generally should be on every single bus as it closes its doors. I think...I potentially heard somewhere 'stay seated until the bus has stopped' but forgot what route, might be wrong...but I'd like these on single deckers.

Its already in place on certain (if not all) routes

I like the idea of these new announcements! will be useful along the 48 route corridor for example to help passengers know where to change to make connections once its withdrawn.
One announcement I am surprised that has never been introduced is when approaching the last stop the destination is announced followed by where this bus terminates. I know it is announced once the bus arrives at the stop but would be nice for a advanced warning.

What they should do is a tube style announcement before approaching the last stop "the next stop is *** where this bus terminates" if there are other routes they should say "change here for ***".

The thing is though tube and buses have different clienteles. For the tube a lot of the customers are tourists who would need need to know the easiest interchange station e.t.c. For buses especially outside of the centre most of the people using these services are just your regular commuter. I'm sure most people on those routes would already know where to change. However if you just put them on central london routes I think that could be a good idea.

Is this something new on all TfL routes? I believe it's only on routes which have been affected[1] by the central London changes. They certainly don't do any extra automated announcements within the Mitcham area routes that I'm aware of. [1] - shortened, lengthened or rerouted

Really I think something more than just a Dot Matrix screen is needed on buses. I think if there were to be square screens which showed the next three stops, bus routes which you can change to, and then at the bottom of the screen you'd have the route number beside the destination. Closed stops would have a red line through them. There should be annoucements for onward travel options at key hubs for example; 'Elephant and Castle Station, change here for routes 35, and 133 towards London Bridge and route 343 towards Aldgate. For easier access to the Northern and Bakerloo lines remain on the bus and alight at the next stop. [short pause] 40 to Clerkenwell Green'

There was/is one on the 25 that talks about St Paul's station restrictions at the peaks and that you should stay on the bus further to Chancery Lane. Even after the cutback it was still saying it.

It does feel like overkill when on some routes you have announcements to change for other buses at frequent stops, something I've noticed on the 9 and 171. I've noticed lots of passengers looking irritated at the long announcements at some stops. On the 171, you have quite a few change here announcements just between Camberwell and the Elephant whilst on the 9 as you travel down Kensington High Street you get change here announcements at what feels like every other stop

The worst one has to be on Walworth Road on my 171 today there was an announcement advertising that you could change for the P5. Maybe there is some merit in advertising some interchanges but advertising interchange with such a backwater route is ridiculous

It's just a way to avoid getting proper blinds that have via points there may not be enough passengers to hear these announcements the way ridership is falling. Too many announcements will be irritating. Something more than the dot matrix LED boards for ibus would be great, but vandalism would be an issue if they put expensive LCD screens or similar instead...
