Does anyone know the pay grade of a maintenance assistant at arriva London? I’m thinking of applying as I have engineering and a pcv license but obviously don’t want to drop big money. Any help especially if you work at arriva would be appreciated!

Some start their training, complete it, but jump ship elsewhere when possible... I guess it's moving DWs with blocked Adblue Injectors around, or shunting duties. Volvo might be able to fill you in, unless you look at arrivalondon.com or arrivabus.co.uk/london and check the careers section

He we have a bus driver who is responsible for the safety of the thousands of passengers they carry. They have to put up with London driving conditions, passengers who may be difficult, fare dodgers and the list goes on. It's a job which is skilled and for which you need the right temperament, yet comparing pay rates against the living wage and the job makes me think bus drivers are well underpaid. Tube drivers earn significantly more. Where to find the money to pay bus drivers more is another matter, but they do need to be fairly for the job done. It's a long demanding job and bus drivers deserve to be able to support their families with a decent standard of living.
Rant over - Before anyone asks, I am not and have never been a bus driver.

Sadly, a number of businesses like to ignore the London Living Wage & the fact people should be paid it - the Ritzy Cinema staff in Brixton protest every now and then about it for example. I'd love to be on £10.55 an hour but had the minimum wage kept up with inflation, the likes of me would be on £20 odd pound an hour by now

It's shocking what some of these companies get away with but this is the problem when tenders are won by whoever bids the cheapest .

Stagecoach Rainham 2 years service and you are on £13 Rightly so aswell ! It's shocking what some of these companies get away with but this is the problem when tenders are won by whoever bids the cheapest . With more and more pressure on cheaper tender prices now this isn’t a problem that will fix itself anytime soon. Makes you wonder why people are leaving the job in droves and that there are so many driver vacancies! 😡 Why aren’t there mass strikes over this? I know we’ve had some bus strikes (the Tower Transit and Quality Line strikes spring to mind) but it amazes me drivers are just seeming to putting up with it! After I saw a link to the video a member put in here, a YouTube vlog by a Q bus driver about the 12 frequency reduction and telling them the cuts to their hours was because they wanted to assist ‘driver fatigue’ (don’t make me laugh) my respect for Go-Ahead has fallen completely through the floor. To be fair to GAL, they’re probably not the only operator doing such behaviour and it’s disgusting.

How do you do that other than by reducing hours?

EDIT: It’s on page 80 of the Central London Bus Cuts Consultation thread.
