The 15 had Scania N113 deckers on a Sunday. Would have loved to have gone on one. We had loads of Scania N113 Deckers in Leeds where I’m from, and they’re fast buses. The 90s had a good era of buses. Same here, I was always a Scania N113 fan but hardly ever used the East London ones. I wish I'd made more of an effort to ride them on the 15 now. X15 would have been fun too, but it was withdrawn just before I came to London. Had plenty of memorable rides on the London Northern N113s though, especially on the 84 and 242 in Herts.
Some of the N113s in Leeds were ex-London, e.g. the Black Prince ones that were originally at Potters Bar.

Definitely the 10 for me, one of the first London routes I've ridden on during my first visit to the city 10 years ago.

I miss being able to to ride the Sunday/Bank Holiday extension of the 88 from Phipps Bridge into the heart of the West End...and if I wanted to stay on the bus into Notting Hill Gate, Shepherd's Bush and Acton Green. Also miss the garage journeys on the 49¹ which we would usually catch from Merton Garage or Colliers Wood Station to Tooting Bec where from there the bus goes into its main service for us to get off at the Science Museum in South Kensington.
¹ - then Shepherds Bush Green to Streatham via the present 49 and most of the 319

The 223 between Ruislip & Heathrow Central! Have lots of early childhood memories from that route, from coming home from Conker picking with my late grandparents, visiting my great auntie with the seemingly never ending rear garden in Ickenham, playing with my toy cars on the shelf above the engine, the old man always jokingly picking me up if we were sitting up top as we entered the Tunnel at Heathrow as it always felt as though the top of the bus would hit the roof of the tunnel and getting to experience a MCW Metrobus getting thrashed, especially from West Drayton, through Harmondsworth and along the Bath Rd into the Airport!
The 128 Hillingdon Local Service was a route I always found intriguing, with it's odd scheduling (as I thought it was at the time) and it's Leyland National's in the excellent red, yellow & grey livery.
Also found one of the 128's replacements, the U8 quite intriguing! being a Sunday only service, it was quite illusive, it also seemed to serve almost the whole of the borough of Hillingdon.

Favourite was the 352 back when it covered the Lower Sydenham to Upper Sydenham via Forest Hill section. It was an absolutely lovely route with those nice Darts and great to have a direct Forest Hill to Bromley link - we used to walk from the bottom end of Dulwich to catch it. When the 352 was truncated and the 356 took over we tried the interchange once. I vaguely remember a 5 minute connection was at least implied in writing with the the 356 at Bell Green. However the 356 was always late and after a couple of times of watching the 352 leave Bell Green as we arrived in, we gave up on the 352 and shopping in Bromley completely, instead going to Lewisham. I recently rode on the 352 and it is now one of the few routes I've ridden from end to end where no other passengers boarded or alighted. The 352's buses also shrunk from 10.1m to 8.9m not long after the route was shortened. I used to love getting the 352 from Hornimans to Bromley and also used to get return tickets, which was a novelty in this part of London and then 5 mins walk to home. Not the same now that I have to change in Catford or Penge to get there now. The route through some very posh houses in Beckenham and the top end of West Wickham was a treat. Other routes I miss are the 12A/12B with the Leyland Nationals, although it was clear by 1990 why they had to be replaced with the double decker 312 as it was standing room only between Peckham and Forest Hill on many occasions. The 12B also connected to Chipstead Valley.

Route 228/328 it is Eltham circular between New Eltham, Chislehurst and Sidcup. It run every 30 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime's and every hours during evening and all day Sunday. It was good old times on Kentish bus since take over Boro's line bus company.
It was so hard to work out what time bus arrive. But love to wait long for bus to turn up for going to Sidcup or Eltham.

Westlink 417 Hounslow to Windsor was a lovely route , also the Kingston Bus K10 Kingston to Stanies via Walton, Byfleet and Chertsey. Both ran with roaring LS’s
More modern times, I sorely miss the 10.

The 179's Barking part, the 167's Debden part and the 369/387. Wish they'd just kept the 369 as is and added other 3** numbers instead of EL*, and LTs. Hopefully in about 10 years or so the LTs will have been removed from EL service... keep them to Central!

I think Barking could do with another useful radial link which goes towards NE London, perhaps an express radial route which goes towards Walthamstow?

X15 - Used to run peak hours Beckton to Trafalgar Square until 1995. When I first moved to where I live the route was run using RMC's! was great for me in the early days of just getting into buses!

The old N77 from Trafalgar Square to Thamesmead (scrapped in, gulp, 1995). Still can't quite fathom out why that got replaced with the fiddly N1. You always remember your first night bus, eh? (Funny how loads of my bus memories tend to be associated with nights out, like catching garage journeys on the 89 from Blackheath Village to New Cross on Saturday nights, or flying over the Bricklayers Arms roundabout on the London Central N80).
The M1. Charlton to North Greenwich in the (almost) blink of an eye for 14 precious months at the turn of the millennium. Loved by many during the rush hour, rather quieter during the day and evenings. The landscape has changed completely since then, but those were heady commuting days.
Not quite a scrapping, but the original incarnation of the 75 - running to Blackheath, Charlton and Woolwich rather than Lewisham - would be very useful for me these days. So would the X53. Bah.

I was working in a Sidcup call centre for a while one summer and depended on the 228/328 to get there (this was the days before the 286 took over that bit of route). I think I hated the crappy 228/328 even more than I hated the job, which was rather a lot.

I might add that idea into another page about routes that should exist....!

Having sat in horrendous traffic along the section between Ilford & Barking on a 169 & EL2 pre diversion, I'd hazard a guess that reliability probably forced the 179 to be cut back?
