Geoff Marshall has done a video on the furthest you can travel on a £1.50 hopper fare. No surprise it involves the X26. As a side note, there’s a mention of what could potentially be the least used bus stop in London youtu.be/bL6Asp01R_g

For the least used bus stop for a regular route I'm not sure but there are two bus stops on Sheen Lane for the 969 with that being the only route to serve the stop that must be up there for the least used stop in London. Just seen the first 4 stops from Whitton on the 969 are only served by that route as well.

It used to be on the N9 but was taken away from that route (It's on the Northern perimeter road, as is crosses the tunnel entrance. Eastbound only).

Oh if you're counting a bus stop that is not served by any route then I can suggest London Eye on the old RV1 route.

As a side note, there’s a mention of what could potentially be the least used bus stop in London youtu.be/bL6Asp01R_gI was going to create a thread on this, but thought not to bother and I was beaten to it lol. I don’t like the fact that they measured it to be 26.2 miles as the crow flies, because they didn’t travel as the crow flies. They travelled 24 miles on the X26 alone never mind the tram and the 353. Depending on the time of day I think you could beat it. Ie an early (preferably Sunday) morning when there’s no traffic, can the 140 be done end to end in the hopper time provided the time you get there links up pretty much perfectly to the X26? If I’ve done the 111 end to end in 55 minutes I’m sure the 140 can be done too. Harrow Weald to West Croydon surely is further. Let’s say the X26 didn’t exist. Then I wonder how far you could get on a hopper. With regards to the least used bus stop, I’m not sure if this can be calculated but I would predict either the 412 or 467 could be the owner of such a stop. The Blackwall Tunnel 108 stop that was mentioned in the video is actually probably a really good shout, I’ve been past it a couple of times and thought to myself ‘what’s the purpose of it’? Is there even any access to it on foot? If not the only way to it is probably for someone who’s driving through the tunnel to drop you off there, if that’s even allowed😂

With regards to measuring distance travels, I'd argue the opposite - as the crow flies is the only meaningful way of measuring it. If you didn't measure it as the crow flies, the longest distance you could travel by bus for £1.50 would be looping round and round Heathrow again and again and again - or if you were to disallow usage of the Heathrow free travel zone, you'd take a nice fast route and go back and forth on that for 70 minutes. For example, going back and forth on the A10 between Heathrow Central and Stockley Road for an hour, then jumping on the X26 all the way to West Croydon ought to beat our route. Or doing Wimbledon -> Elmers End -> East Croydon -> Heathrow T5 would also count - despite the actual journey on both of these being measurably shorter... As for least used bus stop in London, I didn't exactly have a lot of research time

As for least used bus stop in London, I didn't exactly have a lot of research time I guess it’s useful to have the displacement from Orpington to Heathrow, but I do think they should’ve put both the displacement and road mileage on there. I can’t think of a way to beat Geoff and Hugo. I think you’d be cutting it fine to get from Waterloo to West Croydon on the X68 in 70 minutes, plus the X26’s frequency is an issue. If the X68 ran daily then at a time with little traffic maybe that would be feasible as there’d be less traffic, shame the X68 is peak hours only. This will be more interesting when the X140 is introduced, opening up a whole new set of possibilities.

I wonder if by introducing the X140, TfL are testing the waters for reintroducing express routes? Maybe we could see the return of the X53 yet.

You could get 17.9 miles from Marble Arch to Brent Cross Watford Junction using the 189 and 142, provided you get your timings right, and start at Marble Arch you should be fine.

You mean Marble Arch to Watford Junction? 😉 Sorry, yes I do. As the crow flies, Watford Junction Station (stop 3) to Marble Arch/Oxford Street Selfridges is less than 15 miles. Is there anything further than a 96/53 combo that doesn't use the X26? The 81 is a good starting point due to fast journeys over long mileage, but there are poor onward links in a straight line from Hounslow. If not factoring in the X26, I think one has to start with routes running in more or less a straight line with a high average speed. Isn't there also a 10 minute window of grace with the hopper fare too? So technically, there are 70 minutes to play with.

Oh sorry about that, I used this site www.freemaptools.com/how-far-is-it-between.htm to find the displacement between Watford Junction and Marble Arch, but I accidentally quoted the by road distance rather than the displacement.
