London SE1 newsPrivately funded Camberwell - Elephant & Castle - London Bridge line If it does come to fruition hopefully it would be extended a bit further afield in due course.

London SE1 newsPrivately funded Camberwell - Elephant & Castle - London Bridge line Can't see that working at all - for starters, it would cause untold congestion along Walworth & Camberwell Roads especially where they narrow in places both during construction & once up & running. Secondly, they want to use WL as their depot which surely won't please Abellio or TfL who possibly still own it.

Be interesting to see how much of it is on-street running as it will only reduce road space for other vehicles including buses when it does.
Also bad news for Abellio as they want WL as tram depot.
Seems to be pie in sky ... cant see Tram system outside TfL really taking off myself ... and only seems to be wishy washy plans at the moments ... bit like BML2s plans to take over section of Tramlink.

Also some roads have been narrowed for pedestrians/ cycle lanes so trams would probably end up stuck in traffic. A shame as I rather like tram systems...

I think it'd be nice if trams were the future, as I think they have many advantages over buses. However, I think building tramways is too expensive to be feasible so we're better off upgrading the existing road network to better prioritise buses.
