Oh dear. I’ve upset some overpaid glorified doormen/auto announcement operators. What a shame. Never mind. If anything this virus should push the case for driverless tubes sooner!

Oh dear. I’ve upset some overpaid glorified doormen/auto announcement operators. What a shame. Never mind. If anything this virus should push the case for driverless tubes sooner! I personally find your comments very offensive, rude and disrespectful towards the workers who are trying to do their best in a difficult situation. Whilst tube drivers are shielded in their cab, that does NOT mean they are never going to be exposed to the virus. Who's to say that conditions in the depots are safe and that depots, break room facilities and trains are being cleaned to a high standard. What if the driver who had the train earlier or the previous night had the virus, in which case the virus can live on surfaces for multiple days. The same applies to depots as well. Break rooms and canteens may not be particularly safe facilities either if they are small and may have multiple staff members taking their breaks at the same time, meaning social distancing can be difficult. So you shouldn't be jumping to conclusions and your comments are hugely disrespectful to the staff who are doing their best to provide you and everyone else with an essential service. So I suggest you stop making offensive, misinformed comments about things you clearly know nothing about, and maybe keep an open mind in the future before making hugely disrespectful comments. Everyone has the right to do their job in safety, and your comments treat them with utter contempt.

Seems like you have some sort of vendetta against or are jealous of Tube Drivers ? Did you apply but get turned down or something ? Anyone is at risk of this catching this illness ! Obviously some people will have family members , children , etc who are at a higher risk so common sense would say your not going to have the normal staffing levels as some people will be self isolating as the government has said to do so . Lets be honest most jobs are not done in total isolation what a stupid remark some people could say National Express drivers are overpaid but I don't see what anyones pay has to do with anything hence why I think the green eyed monster is involved in this bias ridiculous commenting .

Folks, please don't feed the troll.
People like that thrive on the upset and anger that they cause by saying things online that they would never be bold or stupid enough to say in public. It makes them feel powerful; they derive great satisfaction from knowing that they've spread some misery, usually because they're frustrated by their own personal and social inadequacies.
It's very easy for them to go online and say hurtful or idiotic things anonymously to try to make other people feel bad. They don't care about your rational arguments or your pleas for courtesy or reason; they just want to feel a sense of power and control over others, because they so feel powerless and impotent in their real lives. When you respond to trolls, you're giving them exactly what they want.
Keep feeding the troll, and it will keep spewing out more hateful nonsense. Ignore it, and it will eventually return to its pathetic existence elsewhere.

It seems as though you hate the tube drivers. I do not know if you are a bus driver or other profession, but part of the reason why the tube pay is higher has a lot to do with the union, whether you love them or hate them. Its life, some people get paid higher, i.e. footballers Underground drivers do have to use the platforms then worse share a cab that someone else is using. This is the same problem on the buses where it may not be the travelling public you could catch it from, but your own work colleagues. They can get it at sign on office, pool room, or even the canteen where other drivers may be. Just takes someone to sneeze, breath in your direction that you inhale and then you end up with the virus.
Driverless tubes still needs someone to do the doors and guess what? It would be the SAME drivers, who would still end up on the same pay.

Usually I'd fully agree and not bite the bait of a fishing troll, however, as the days pass we're seeing that this virus is now discriminating with whom it infects and those who succumb to the virus. The blatant digs at a certain profession in this time is quite sad in a time where all keyworkers are stepping up and doing their bit risking their lives on a daily basis. To hear of the increasing number of bus drivers and transport workers dying is extremely sad and more measures need to be implemented to prevent further fatalities. However on a personal note after 13 years on this forum, albeit in the last couple of years my contributions have decreased I think after this episode it's time to call it a day and cease posting on the forum.

I've not been on this forum for nearly as long, but as others have said it would be a great shame if you felt it necessary to no longer make your valuable contributions. I made the point a few weeks ago that I feared this forum going down the route of another, much larger transport forum I've belonged to for years which has lost a lot of contributors for various reasons, but the loudmouth, know-it-all few have excessive dominance, always keeping just within the letter, if not spirit, of the rules. As I say, I do hope you reconsider, but I for one will quite understand if you don't.

TfL has revealed that it is beginning a formal trial of boarding passengers via the centre doors this week, as it continues to refine its coronavirus response. Several forum members have already reported seeing these measures in action over the last week or so, but TfL officially announced its plans in a press release published yesterday. As part of that announcement, TfL said: It added that this new trial "will assess how the change works in live operations and whether it causes any issues." The trial will begin in the coming days "on several Abellio routes that operate out of Walworth bus garage. This includes two routes that serve hospitals." You can read the full news release here on TfL's press site.
