I have one for the south west london folks. I remembered randomly with my family getting on the 74 from Hyde Park and taking it to Earls Court with those Northern Counties Palatine 2 buses. Those seats were so d*mn comfortable. Back those times the 74 used to go to Minstead Gardens before the 430 came out. The 14 I would take to Fulham when a friend of mine wanted to go to Stamford Bridge. (Boooo to Chelsea 😂😂) Those buses on the 74 were nice, but not much leg room. Didn’t they have the fleet number on the top deck at the front ?

On a different note, I preferred the Palatine I myself but then I do prefer much boxier designs compared to the more elaborate ones.

I think your neck of the woods mostly had the Palatine 1 versions right. Mostly on the 35. Did they ever venture out on the 345 as well if you know?

I know they had the lines at the top but what I remembered with those buses was how high the seats were and they didn't have the usual bench seats. If I recall correctly I remembered some of the London Central Palatine 1 buses had those high seats too. Not all of them though.

London Central had most of the other type referred to . Like on the Docklands Express ... a brilliant route.

Yes, there were appearances on the 345 from time to time alongside the LDP's - same with the T's at Q, only deckers I never got to see on the 345 were the small batch of L's at NX when the 345 had an allocation there. In Brixton, the 35 & 45 were common places to find them but the 133 ended up with them before the 52 reg WVL's came along, the 37 saw the odd appearance and even the 196 saw a very appearance of one before it went to Connex. Some Palatine II's made it to SW as I saw them appear on the 133

The 345 I think had 4 garages running it at one point if I recall. How the hell did they manage that 😂.

Can't agree about the legroom, the AF batch with the individual seats had awful legroom upstairs. The standard NVs with bench seats were much better. I think the individual seats must have been thicker than the bench seats - or else they were set at a different angle. Whatever the reason, I just couldn't get comfortable on those seats.
I'm with you on the Palatine I design though. A good looking bus at the time. Northern Counties designs were a bit conservative but they always looked quite sleek to me, and I'd include the President in that even if it ended up branded as a Plaxton.

Fair enough regarding the 74 batch I too think the President was a great design, always wanted some DLP's down in South London to not only go with TA21 with Travel London but to compliment the many B7TL's across many garages & those Tridents with President bodies we had at SW and on the 295.

North London always got the good buses with Arriva ! But I’m not really complaining, South London still had 1st generation DW’s until just last year !
