Random question but of interest , today on my journey on the 5 my bus was on time and the bus behind which was playing cat and mouse with mine according to Bustimes was 12 minutes behind schedule so should of been the bus Infront of the bus Infront of mine but wasn't , so when this happens is there no leader for the late bus or does this change to the bus its behind even though it's late ? (It also ending up on time by end of the journey due to excessive padding )

Unless you know the exact running number it would not be easy to know if the bus is in its scheduled place or not as that info is not available via countdown apps.

I didn't word it very well but basically if your running 15 mins late for example but the bus in front of you is on time do you run to your duty card or do you follow what the Ibus MDT says and the bus that should of been behind you now becomes your leader ?

Depends on the route I guess. If a high frequency, I would believe the bus 15 late would stay into a headway and follow times when it gets to the end of what the controller may want it to do. The bus that was behind would in effect take the place and be the leader. But depending on recovery time at the end of the route, they may resort back to normal order or unless the bus is curtailed etc.

A bus running 30 minutes late on the time of another bus can show up as a good bus when in effect it is late.

I can't believe this year will be 10 years that the timer was added to the iBus. I first remembered seeing this on the 453 around New Cross in March of 2014

I first remembered seeing this on the 453 around New Cross in March of 2014 And yet Connex was ahead of everyone as the 51-52 reg vehicles they ordered all had clocks below the stopping bell - mind you, most stopped working after a while

Most of them on the 3 hardly worked.

Most of them on the 3 hardly worked. Yeah, they worked for a few years but over time, they stopped working and weren’t fixed. I think the ones on the G1’s 51 reg DP’s worked a little bit more

Does anyone know what's up with the inconsistency with the newer spec displays? Go Ahead and Abellio buses have screens which display information such as line disruptions, next 4 stops and the estimated time to the nearest landmark. Stagecoach and Metroline buses have the higher spec display but this display only displays exactly what the iBus system announces and not any of the additional information.
I've not been on an Arriva bus so I don't know what is displayed on theirs.

I've not been on an Arriva bus so I don't know what is displayed on theirs. Arriva have the same as Stagecoach & Metroline. Not all Abellio screens have the extra information screens as the E5 Metrocity's only have the high spec display which displays the same stuff as the old I-Bus screens other than the National Rail symbol (and presumably, symbols for other stations like Underground etc)
