'London bus driver refused to take my disabled daughter'A woman says she was left feeling "ridiculed and belittled" by a bus driver who refused to let her young disabled daughter board.www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-59575924The drivers involved would be disciplined for failing to follow correct procedure. It is a shame though that this is still happening on the network. Over the years operators have done so much to educate drivers on awareness etc. sadly this still goes on. So many different forms of training has been rigorously been set in place since 2005 with all London operators.

And surely TfL should be saying that the driver will be interviewed to ascertain exactly what happened instead of using the word 'disciplined' implying that the driver is in the wrong?

I always agree with two sides of the story, but it has been clear as day what has happened. There is still even cases up to now of buses empty and drivers refusing to let wheelchair users on. Thankfully the majority of these do not make the press.

If you did, how slow would buses be?

If you did, how slow would buses be? Are you actually victim blaming here? She has every right to request the ramp to make it easier to get her daughters wheelchair onto the bus. It’s not a pushchair, designed for a baby, it is clearly a wheelchair designed to be used by young adults, who can be deceptively heavy, with mobility problems.

Lazy parenting in my eyes, she does not need the ramp deployed. She is only a victim as she has made herself a victim. Yeah made myself a victim, look at me, I gave been done wrong ... world can do without people like that.

I think that’s the issue here - it does look like a buggy even though it’s classed as a wheelchair which probably explains why the driver refused travel. That said, it’s not hard to see a brain damaged person just by their behaviour

Seriously, she is just asking to have the ramp deployed so she can get her child around with some dignity instead of having to ask strangers to help lift her wheelchair. It’s not lazy parenting to ask for a basic right. You make me so angry sometimes with your stupid and ignorant comments.

I notice at the bottom of the news saying TfL brings the woman in the meetings with Arriva about how this happened or why it needs a ramp out. However, it look like Route 229/301 or possible 401 near by.
The bus driver can't ignore the passenger asking for the ramp because child do have the right to have a ramp out and allowed the pushchair to get on the buses without lifting it up by her mother.

Looks like a bog standard buggy to me and the caption underneath describes it as a buggy, why did she expect the ramp to be used? Did she ask the driver for the ramp or did she just expect that? Maybe if she did ask the driver they didn't hear her because of the sealed up assault screen? And maybe the driver who drove off and left her didn't realise that she wanted to get on? All sorts of other possible factors.

I know you don't read full articles and like to cherry pick stuff out of them given you've done it before on here but if you read paragraph 3, it clearly states 'buggy like wheelchair'. Now look at the third picture and tell me how many buggies have tiny wheels at the front and big ones at the back, then compare that to wheelchairs which commonly come in that form as well as only come with two big wheels.
