There was an occasion a couple of years back on a bus I was on where a driver parked at the bus stand mid-route to use the toilet provided at a stand. Another time a driver ordered a Chinese take-away where one of the staff waited outside the bus stop and the driver collected his food, also mid-route. I won't prove popular with this reply but really don't think drivers should be collecting food whilst in service. It doesn't look professional and surely meal breaks are for this purpose? I don't think any passenger would have issues with drivers using toilets on stands.

In my opinion as long as the service is not being delayed and the driver simply stops to collect a bag of food from someone waiting and immediately puts it away in the cab to eat on stand later then I don't think it's such a big issue. Obviously parking the bus mid route to go order would be very different

I do not see any issue with this, as long as it is not holding up the service and making people late. The case of what happened on the 243, the driver was taking the p### imo. Also nothing wrong in stopping mid route to go toilet, especially if it were a long route and there was nothing at the ends.

Another time a driver ordered a Chinese take-away where one of the staff waited outside the bus stop and the driver collected his food, also mid-route. I have done this before on the 229 pulled into Sidcup Station to use the driver toilet you cannot be penalised for doing something that all humans do, the passengers were not complaining I explained to them I am going to use the Toilet. If I did not explain what I was doing then they have the right to complain. Nothing wrong with having food delivered to the bus. I’ve had Pizza delivered to my bus before all paid for online opened the cab door collected drive off no delay then ate it on my break. There is no should do it on break, it is a smart idea as sometimes going out to get food on break can reduce your time and then having to rush to eat your food goes to show that no one thinks of things like this and basic common sense and intelligence does not exist anymore, a lot of drivers bring their own meals to work like myself, however sometimes takeaway whenever I have not cooked. A passenger approached me on Tuesday and said “Are you going to open the back doors or not” and just walked off the front door the doors were already open when she asked me this. Things like this make me question the intelligence of people these days who have every harsh thing to say about bus drivers… Anyone in the cargo who has anything to say or complain about that needs to get a life no different to opening the door and letting passengers get on and off, no commendation for using the brain though another thing to complain about from a person with no life would be my answer to anyone who opens their mouth to such a petty thing that causes NO disruption. Some people get on politely ask to collect Metro papers and then get off. I’ve even seen passengers wait at bus stops waiting to collect or give things to friends or relatives…

I was at PRU a while back and a late running R3 pulls in, the driver apologises for the lateness due to traffic etc and said he needed to nip to the loo, the waiting passengers were all in agreement that needing the toilet takes priority over the bus being late.
I can't see any problem having food brought to the bus by prior arrangement.

From the comments and my own experience, I have never had an issue stopping mid route to use the toilet at Edgware bus station on the 142. I made an announcement, turned the bus off and locked the cab door and left both sets of doors open. A bottle of water or juice that you can close the lid fine but a can or coffe I don't agree with as HVs don't even have a cup/bottle holder, you can put it in the locker near your foot or bag but then it's just going to spill, so that means this driver would have most likely been driving whilst holding the coffee in his hand and drinking the coffee whilst driving.
Don't get me started on reading something whislt driving.
Most of all as Capitalomnibus said this was shortly after takeover so what was he doing prior to taking over the bus?

No cup/bottle holder in the cab is a bit remiss, I've noticed some drivers have thermocups for hot drinks. I don't think I've ever seen a driver reading whilst driving, sat in traffic maybe.
