549 proposed for withdrawal. W14 gets a massive frequency drop to every 60 minutes. You guys can read the rest instead of me having to copy and paste the proposals.

V interesting. W12 practically turned inside out, the 549 replaced in full with the 4bph W14. Wonder what will happen to the existing 549 contract with Sullivans?

So basically the W12 is the old W14 with changes and the new W14 is the old 549 with new bits.
Wish they would use new numbers when they make changes like what’s being proposed.

If all goes ahead as proposed, I then expect these changes to be implemented from 7th September 2024 as that's when the W12, W14 and W14 contracts are set to expire (6th September 2024).

Not really sure why the W14 designation has to continue here. The new W14 is a completely different route. They may aswell call that one 549 and get rid of W14

The W14 idea is poor in my opinion, they're basically killing the route and I fear with the frequency dropping that much it may get withdrawn at a later date if the service becomes unappealing to passengers. The only benefit is that Loughton to Woodford gets a slight frequency increase but I find it bizarre that they want to increase the frequency on the Essex end yet the London end gets a significantly worse service. The W14 linking Whipps Cross to Wanstead as opposed to the current W12 routing via South Woodford is good but not at the proposed frequency. Ideally the W14 should carry on to Walthamstow Central via the W12's routing to retain the links through Walthamstow Village.

It may be a wise move to use the opportunity to double deck route W13 on a full time basis in conjunction with these changes.

Like in the 384 consultation, TfL have changed the benchmark for being near a bus service, but this time to 500m!

Like in the 384 consultation, TfL have changed the benchmark for being near a bus service, but this time to 500m! However in this case the consultation also makes it clear that it’s a specific request from Waltham Forest council so not sure TfL gets the blame here. They could say no but it’s better to accept one small request now and get a larger request back at a later date.

They may aswell call that one 549 and get rid of W14 Agreed, it doesn't even retain 1 mile of its current routeing. And two thirds of that is already on the 549 route. However, this would mean that the 533 is the only 5xx route, and that itself is a temporary route.

Shame to see the W12 rerouted away from Walthamstow village and a slightly concerning precedent if "public realm" aspirations make it harder for buses (should be easier), but it does mean it'll likely be able to use standard small buses and also run much more frequently on the plus side. Also some existing W12 sections being halved
Otherwise all makes sense and seems to be an improvement. The 549 being beefed up to a standard hourly headway as well as Sunday/PH/evening service and running to Whipps Cross is positive - guess that will be Sullivans operation still with the 549 contract renumbered.
