Maybe it’s my bias as a bus driver coming through but that article doesn’t come across as particularly fair and if you didn’t know the whole story you might assume the bus driver was totally at fault. If you’ve seen the video then you’ll know the bus driver was a completely innocent party as the car came speeding out of a side road directly into the side of the bus at the centre doors, knocking the bus off course and sending it into the garden of a nearby house

That car slammed into the bus with such force it genuinely surprised me the bus didn’t fall onto its side. A different angle or a little bit faster and that could have easily happened. The bus driver should be commended for preventing more injuries and that car driver should be seriously questioned.

Driving at speeds far too high in my opinion.

Nothing unusual about that - 'bus crash' is bigger news than 'car crash' and most of the media has a anti-bus, pro-car political slant. with some of them it's more obvious than others.
I have read one 'story' (can't remember if it was the 'standard' or elsewhere) where they made it sound like the bus / bus driver was at fault and only if you read it carefully, you saw that the bus was stationary at a bus stop at the time of impact.
There was another one a few years ago which involved a bendy bus (think it was on the 453 or a garage journey to it) where a car went on to the wrong side of the road (can't remember if it was overtaking dangerously or just veered across) and ran in to the front of the oncoming bus that was on the correct side of the road. One local press 'story' tried to spin it that it was the bus's fault for being there and / or Ken Livingstone's fault because it was a bendy bus.

Ironically, introducing speed cameras and other measures like speed humps doesn’t do much to solve this - I’ve always said the only way is to make driving tests harder and to educate people on the dangers of dangerous driving

I have seen the Dash Cam Footage too. The Evening No Standard writer of that article needs to get their facts right. Interesting the Dash Cam footage is not with the Evening No Standard so they can make up whatever BS they want. The Jerk in the Merk was driving at blazing speeds and hit this bus at a T Junction. Was shared all over Facebook Messenger and Whats App throughout the week.

Does not say anything that its speed was too high.

The majority of dangerous drivers in my opinion are car drivers. Driving at speeds far too high in my opinion. But where does it state the car was speeding too high. From what I gather the car was on the wrong side of the road. Does not say anything that its speed was too high. In this case it’s very clear that the car was moving too fast. There looked to be zero attempt to apply the brakes. The car slammed into the rear doors, obliterating them.
