Interesting proposals. The R1 replaces the R2 to Biggin Hill, the R3 replaces the R1 to Green Street Green and the B14 replaces the R6 in St Mary Cray.

I hope that this means a capacity upgrade for the northern half of the R1 (that is so long as longer buses can fit up there), rather than the other way round of a capacity downgrade for the existing R2 route.

It wouldn't be a capacity downgrade for the R2 anyway. It would go from 2 x50cap buses an hour (6 days a week daytime only) to 3 x45cap buses an hour all day, every day. That's still a big increase in capacity offered on the R2 corridor!

Look like pretty good proposals to me!

Look like pretty good proposals to me! It does make the B14 even more convoluted though. Perhaps something could be done with the 492 to provide a more direct link between Orpington and Bexleyheath?

The 51 and a change at Sidcup or Welling tends to be much quicker between Orpington and Bexleyheath anyway, and or course is the same fare with Hopper. Making the network simpler and more economical at the cost of making an already indirect link slightly more so seems a reasonable trade-off imo.

Always felt the R6 would meet the chopping board… Hopefully longer vehicles for the R1

I'm a bit surprised at the R1 giving a more frequent service to Biggin Hill, is this justified or is it related to the ULEZ expansion? Yet still nothing done about the obvious missing link to Foots Cray Tesco.

None of this helps ULEZ as none of these cross the border.
However . They seem straight forward enough. Haven’t used any of these in a long long time.

I wouldn’t use the B14 as a trunk route anyway - bus to Sidcup then the 51 all the way for me. For its length the 51 is a reliable link. Not sure there’d be further demand for a direct Bexleyheath to Orpington link. Overall these look pretty decent proposals.

I don’t think these proposals make the network any simpler than it is currently and making the B14 more indirect doesn’t seem particularly sensible. Seems to me the previous Orpington changes never paid off as they planned and/or this is just to remove routes for the sake of finances rather than actively making a better network (R11 still not returning to serving Foots Cray Tesco for example)

I always thought Route R2 should extended via R6 to St. Mary's Cray to make it easy, but TfL thought something different.
For R1/R2/R3 section: I would go ahead with this one! Have no problem with it. I think it is good for local passengers. However, R3 is coming home again running via the Cheslfield Station area. :-)
For B14/R6 section: I think it is about time for route B14 to have half hours of service every day! Good for the Sandway Road area as they can have more choices to go to Sidcup, Orpington or Bexleyheath.
For R3 in Petts Wood: Ok, I am trying to understand this route in a different way. Now I understand why this may be a better way to service at Petts Wood, station SQ then service via coppice estate area first then service at Petts Wood, Queensway then quickly head to Locksbottom! However, Petts Wood Station has now got a new Lift making more access for wheelchar and pushchairs at either side without getting bus R3 to go another side of the railway.
In All this change is def bonus for everyone. :-)

yeah but Tesco is still in Orpington and Morrison in Sidcup. so B14/R11 can still service there nearby. So more choice!
