I had 8522, 8523, 8224 and 8334 over the weekend. 8224 is a 10.9m Voith boxed stop start E200 MMC. It is limited to 45mph and set to upshift at 1600-1800rpm. On this occasion, it was holding for extended periods in 1st and upshifting at 2600-3000rpm. It would remain in 3rd until the limiter cut the fuel supply at 45mph. A very decent bus but I much prefer the Allison examples from the P13. The brakes required a fair amount of force to operate, which is different to other Voith buses I've had. The cooling fans were going like the absolute clappers - I've never heard anything like it from a MMC. But then there were heatwaves emanating from the engine bay so think that one might be after some coolant. Very solid drive. There are ways to make them hold gears, Eg, slamming the throttle on and off in quick succession. The cooling system sometimes defaults to fault mode which puts the fans in max speed mode

The cooling system sometimes defaults to fault mode which puts the fans in max speed mode My theory is it's a recoil protection system Voith has programmed in. If the engine thinks it has recoiled, it will send a signal to remain in gear for 5 more seconds. If it is actually recoiling, the fuel supply will be cut until it stops. I used to do that with Easylink's VP class B7TLs on the 185 but sadly it never worked on the London General versions, barring in mind the latter were on the Voith setup instead of ZF. I think it worked on every single ZF B7TL, from Euro 2 4 speed to Euro 3 6 speed and everything in between! Definitely worked with the V/W plates at LU, the 03 plate VPs and the 55 plate VWs at Metroline. It works with 4 speed Voith B7TLs, or at least it did with 9021-9073 but the throttle sequence is a bit more complicated.

In the Voith ones yeah, must be, the ZF’s however I have no idea, you don’t really have to try hard to get our Scania’s to redline, same with the citaros and the zig boxes don’t really recoil anyway youtu.be/kbdzYaktLPQ 6:41 seems rather nice

Is driving around on line of route with ibus live but showing blank blinds and not picking anyone up, count as some sort of “cheating” performance wise ?
Saw a K1 doing this yesterday.

It regularly happens with another operator local to me - one can only trust that the mileage is deleted by the controller who authorised it and declared as lost.

There's been reports that the new buses due for the E11 have the electric smart blinds, one already having been delivered. I wonder if this could mean that refurbished buses may be retrofitted, ie the MMCs on the 109 and whatever is due for the 407. Can anyone confirm today whether this is the case?

Don’t know if it has reported here but the E10 will run from Twickenham from next week Saturday until the new Southall garage opens.
The E11 is running from Southall (AB).

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to sample the first day of Abellio running the E11 today, something I will try to rectify soon. From my casual observations on LVF, Abellio haven't been doing too badly on the route. I snapped 8242 on the stand in Greenford today whilst I was passing through although disconcertingly, when I check LVF for the E11 there are no records of 8242 being on the route today - I wonder whether this is because there were issues logging into ibus? I hope Abellio do a good job on the E11 as their presence in once Metroline heartlands continues to grow

Yes, that would be why it doesn't show up

Yes, that would be why it doesn't show up iBus was working, it was in Fullback mode hence no record on countdown feed and thus LVF

Rode the E11 with Abellio today and had an overall positive experience. The buses were mostly lovely, apart from a bit of jerkiness on some steep, narrow sections in Elthorne Heights, but all in all were very nice and the new bus smell is really fantastic. LVF was only showing three buses on the route throughout the day and I think two buses weren't tracking, making me miss one bus and I had to wait for 20 mins in Ealing. I did really enjoy the route though (shame about the Castle Bar diversion at the moment), I wish Abellio the best with the route and I can't wait for the E11 and E10 to start intermixing with the E5's and U9's batches. I want to see how an Allison takes on the E11. I can't wait to see Abellio take over the E10 next week and will be riding both E10 and E11 next week!
