I've noticed that inside all tube carriages, there are several sets of abbreviations. On the District Line for example, these are usually just underneath the line maps, above the windows.
The abbreviations (amongst others) are: BIC, DIC, MLFIC, ComCOS, ComGCOS.... what do these mean???
I think it may have something to do with the position of certain components underneath the car, but I may be wrong!
Thanks!

They`re called "cant rail" abbreviations, and range from short ones like "S" for sand, through longer ones like "EL" for escape ladder, to "EPBIC" for electro pneumatic brake isolating cock.
