Apart from copious amounts of Overground 'veg', far too many LO staff in new hi-viz jackets, loads of cleaners picking up imagimary rubbish at Dalston Junction, and a couple of BTPs finest looking for someone to practice a section 44 search on, very few fare paying clients. Better luck tomorrow!

Better luck tomorrow! I went on it from 6PM onwards, and usage started picking up between Canada Water and New Cross Gate. On the way back to Dalston it was pretty busy as well. Not too bad for a first day actually!

They've updated the announcements on Jubilee line, at Canada Water it now says change here for Overground (instead of East London line replacement bus)
I heard this at 7:30am today, so would have had long wait for an overground train as they weren't running at that time

It won't really pick up properly until the stretch to West Croydon is opened on 23rd May (I heard it's that date).

I like to try out new bus routes/train lines out during their first days, before it gets busy, but wont be able to - probably wont be able to try it for at least a month, because of A level exams. . I especially want to try this Overground line as I have a lot of interest in the old Broad Street to Dalston line. Think its stupid how all the infrastructure was all removed, just to be rebuilt a couple of decades later. Would loved to have seen Broad Street, but was knocked down before I was born (i know Broad Street has nothing to do with the new Overground extension)

God help the Central Line!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Not sure how it will affect the Central Line... Not one iota I would think. Passengers needing to transfer from a north-south to an east-west direction (or vice versa) will tend to use (and stay on) the District or Hammersmith and City lines. Transferring onto a deep level tube (and remember, this would be a SECOND change at Mile End or Liverpool St) like the Central would ONLY be beneficial to reach a distant point on one of those lines. Yes, the revitalised ELL will throw up MANY benefits to the new communities it will now serve, but its effect on the Central Line will be minimal.

John, i'm not sure how it will affect the Central Line... Sorry, I meant the District Line. ::)Whitechapel is bad at the best of times, lets see what it's like when the line is fully operational.

Only noticed as i was walking past NXG on my way home that they were picking up passengers! So couldnt resist and picked up my staff oyster for a nice free spin! Idea for another forum meet after the upcoming one, how about a day out on the new line?

I expect it will soon have peak hour congestion like most lines. No point in travelling to Whitechapel to get a district line train if you can't get on a district line train due to crowding. I'm working at Canary Wharf these days and often passengers can't get on in morning at Bermondsey or Canada Water as the Jubilee trains are rammed. Yet I've heard loads of people who live in Croydon, Streatham etc who aim to take new Overground to Canada Water to change. Incidently the 23 May tietable change has overground trains replacing (not supplementing) some Southern trains

Got on the new East London Line today
Wasn't really too bad from my point of view, It did get busy between Whitechapel and New Cross Gate.
Also the interior looks faboulous! ;D
